I have had Aronson's Try The Impossible for a couple of months now, but it was only this week that I finally dug into the section presenting Prior Commitment and other brilliant items employing the simple yet diabolical UnDo Influence principle. It's so good I actually fool myself.

My favorite of that set is "Divide and Conquer." I've posted this before, so at the risk of being repetitious, I have a little re-working of it that makes the dealing go more quickly. PM if interested.

You're going to have a lot of fun studying Aronson's brillant work. This won't be the first principle in his books that will fool you. "The Cancelation Princple" in his effect Shufflebored (Bound to Please)fooled me very badly when I was working through it.
Enjoy the study of some truly unquie concepts in card magic! David |

The set-up is symmetrical and easy to remember, and the symmetry permits a variant on the Ireland shuffle that just adds to the bafflement. I am really learning enjoying Twice as Hard, as I really like CAAN effects and this trick helps me solidify my memory of Mnemonica. But I do think it requires a certain kind of performer comfortable with on-the-feet arithmetic who is also at ease making the on-the-fly revisions required in the rare extreme scenarios Aronson warns about. |

In the recent Richard Vollmer issue of Arcane magazine he has a take which introduces partial faro's to the trick and finding the spectators cards in two different ways. The first is located by spelling the name of one of the red jacks and the other is found sandwiched between the two jacks.
For those interested in Faro work there's some clever ideas in here that would fool magicians heck they fooled me just learning them |
