"No gossip here. Just the facts. "
Really?? " How would you feel.... " How does one's "feelings" relate to "facts"? Isn't the "fact" that Petty has established a business that exposes effects (that generally can be purchased without any qualification or preliminary requirements from anyone with the money, to do what they want with them). How is that business different from other business ventures that expose magic (like McBride, Kohler, et al) or writers of popular magic exposing books (Joshua Jay) or producers of magic-exposing DVD's/videos/books/effects (L&L, Michael Ammar, every internet magic shop out there)? I don't see how this new "fact" justifies four pages of whining and personal bashing. Sheesh....I am going back to the "for sale" forum to buy stuff. |

"Unpleasant" is a very nice word. Nicer than necessary, actually.
I've been enjoying most of this board, but it can get pretty mean sometimes. It's worth hanging around, I think. The kid who buys a stripper deck in a dollar store today could be the Tamerez of 2025! |

Interesting to see how worked up people get when it's Craig Petty exposing some tricks for corporate clients, but everyone seems to give ole Penn and Teller a pass for the exposure they've been doing for the last decade. Why the bias?

If you are morally driven to ask that loaded question, then you probably know the sensible answer to it.
I don't do sensible answers to stupid questions. I do pictures of Mavis Riley. |

Did you consider it exposure when Vernon exposed a ball pass in the sucker part of hid C&B routine. Penn and Teller's routine is really no different. Exposing for so called "team building," however, is just a blatant sellout. |

Gotta disagree with you, Bob. But I'm too tired to start the Penn and Teller thing again. If you're genuinely interested, here's a couple of forums:

That's cool. We can agree to disagree.
But Penn and Teller still mystify with the apparent exposure. Big difference. |

Bill,
I will tell you that one of the reasons Petty gets ragged on is because of what he had dished out. He just rubs people the wrong way. He has a habit of apparently not thinking when he opens his mouth. What topped it off for many people is after he comes across so critical and pompous of other people's work, he then puts out a series of products that are sub-par at best and blatant ripoffs at worst. He apparently has the highest moral standards for others but the lowest bar for himself. He gets a really bad rap because he has earned it. KJ |

Hello people I am a part time professional and also use magic in my selling job very successfully. I have been on this corporate team building day delivered by Craig and his colleagues. They put on a magic show at the start that was very professional, to warm up the sessions. I have to admit I felt uncomfortable at first when they explained that we had to come up with a team performance of some stage illusions and that my work mates were about to learn how the illusion was done. That was all about 9 months ago and no one has ever mentioned any of the day again or how the illusions were done they just remember the daft or silly performances they put on in front of their mates and the laugh they had. As it has been said all of the reveals can be found on the Internet. The focus is on the working as a team to come up with a performance and the story incorporating the illusion.
It was a great day filled with craig and team entertaining our sales and marketing people. They impressed enough to get a wedding gig from one of my colleagues. |
