Another offering from Mr. Dunford.
The Blurb: Based on classic techniques of mentalism - a new hybrid technique is created. This can be seen as a very fair and open CT. No fancy rotations, placements, or special rips or tears. You can even do this technique genuinely blindfolded. This is not an instant r**d. But a more classical delayed one. I expect you to own and studied The 13 Steps and Practical Mental Effects. For business card stock mainly. Full colour photos, 10 routines, plus lots of hints and tips to enable you to perform this close up, under fire, eyes burning your hands if needs be. My Review (Full disclosure-I received a review copy): First things first - Very well done! If you do this type of 'work', then this is a nice addition to your arsenal. It is simple, practical and imminently workable. I like it and will definitely use it. On the other hand, if you wish to do this type of 'work' but have been skittish, this is a nice and safe position from which to start. Possibly just as important, the explanation and routines and presentation are all top notch. Every aspect of this material is meticulously thought out from the actual method, its explanation, how to employ it and the additional bonus of the lovely photos. As a working professional, this receives my highest recommendation. Available here: http://www.lulu.com/shop/the-great-stant......844.html One last thought. Iain Dunford consistently creates and shares substantial contributions to our craft. For my part, it is much appreciated. Best wishes, Scott

Thank you very much indeed scott...
yes - I asked downstairs for people to take a look at it, just to see whether it was worth sharing or not..and thank you to scott, bob, john riggs, richard busch, courtney and a couple of others who I can't recall just now (chest infection - bit murky minded right now)... so yeah, I know we've had some beautiful CTs and similar released, I own r2d2, t-rex and dr bill's...and I can safely say, they are in no way similar to this one...mine's not an ins**** r**d for a start... and I'm very happy with how the artwork came out too...its only a diddy booklet, full colour photos of what you need to know are in it...along with short one page routines with (hopefully) unusual and interesting premises...i also detail how to get the most out of it, getting more than one person, as well as providing justification for your actions... you can (if you really feel the urge to) do this genuinely blindfolded... pretty pics here:

I got a chance to see this and I'm really happy I did.
I think the midway tear concept is really great and I smiled when I first read it. I had a lot of fun playing around with it. If you use billets, you have an arsenal of peeks, tears, switches, markings, etc. that you use. I have one or two that I mostly use, but others that I "keep in my back pocket" for those times, places, scenarios or routines that they are most appropriate. I think that whether or not the midway tear becomes your "go to" move with billets will, obviously, have a lot to do with your personality and performance style, but this definitely something that you'll want to know and use. There are also some really good scripted openings for setting up the move. I like them a lot. A lot of the openings that I have seen for billet work in general are contrived and/or akward, or they are long-wined mini-lectures that a lot of folks just won't listen to. I figure you should either not explain what's going on at all and just do it (kind Osterlind style) or have a smooth, concise script that logically but naturally sets the effect up without detracting from it. That latter is how I would describe the the scripts. They're great. If you like billets, you'll like this. Enjoy.

Ordered yesterday; I'm very excited to see this! Iain is the King of taking bits of paper, ripping the sh*t out of them, and doing something mental-y or mystic-y with them. (Now that I think about it, the first thing I ever bought from him, almost a decade ago, had to do with reading someone's mind after ripping an actual BOOK to shreds... the guy is obsessed...) I'm so delighted that this is a re-examination of the classic method rather than an IR like all the others nowadays (not that there aren't some great ones), and I'm betting Iain is the perfect guy to do it!
Can't wait to see this! |

TPR really stands for toilet paper readings!
thanks fellas - appreciate it... at worst, I think you'll get something from the presentations themselves if nothing else...the midway was created by accident, and then I found out it fitted in naturally with what I was doing with other tears...a happy accident... you get ten routines, and a few mentions of other routines that would work with this from 13 steps and PME...plus a couple of loose ideas...so I've tried to give as much value as possible, in that you get the midway, the bakerlite s***ch, written instructions, photo instructions, thoughts on the timings of when to get your r**d and the routines and ideas... i would say the bonus of this one is: you can be genuinely looking away all the way through, as its a delayed r**d, rather than an instant if you WANT an instant one, then dr bill's is my favourite there are no rotations, re-alignments, or special placements involved i can't really use doug dyment's "criteria" as its not an instead r**d, but if I did, it would fail on D, and not sure by his definition of G to be honest - but the rest are passed I'd say no special folds, twists or turns!

Here's the routine titles so you can get at least a small flavour of the presentational angles:
It's just how things work Animalistic tendencies broken promises Wish fulfillment what the eyes can't see, the heart will tell Broken hearts and half truths the good & the bad in each other Write away – psychic graphology HOW DO YOU MEND, A BROKEN HEART?

Really enjoyed reading this, and have finally had the chance to do it a few times for folks (didn't want to review until I'd done it, since it is so different from the norm). This is just beautiful! Very different in appearance to any other CT I know, and the simplest in procedure I think. The t**r is really quick and easy, completely above suspicion, and the r**d is as long as you want. The way it is done, there is nothing to suspect, the t**r just seems like an afterthought. There is a small get ready that takes maybe three seconds. I think it is terrific, and I will keep using it. This won't totally replace any of my CTs, but I've added it to the repertoire, for those appropriate times. Iain comes through yet again!

Thank you sir... honest reviews, good or bad are always welcome...one person's **** is another person's sugar...
glad you liked it and hopefully you at least got an idea or two from the routines as well... i know I can't compete with the big guns, and we've had a lot of releases in this field over the past two or three years...i feel its at worst, a well meaning contribution - in the sense that I understand people's reticence to consider another b*ll*t "thing", and this one is a combo of established mentalism techniques used in an unique way...its quick and easy to do, and is kinda hard to describe in a way - as it looks like one thing, when its really another...but the upside is that it can look nonchalant, scruffy, easy, absent minded and all things in between... and I do honestly feel as though the routines are quite broad, from traditional to a little odd...
