I cannot wait for the Murphy's at the table lecture with Rick Merrill on July 16th.
http://www.murphysmagic.com/Streaming/Product.aspx?id=53827 (or you can sign up for the whole month of 5 lectures for just $50.) In magic, we always talk about what it is like when a "professional" tips his act. An act that has been refined over and over again (as opposed to all the bad magic out there that gets invented 1 day and put on a DVD the next.) Well, in magic, we have an "Olympics" called FISM and the number of people in history who have taken home the top award at FISM is small. Rick Merrill is one of them. I have been lucky enough to talk to Rick about this and his lecture on 7/16 will be the first step towards Rick tipping it all. Not only the act, but also teaching what steps he took to win the greatest competition magic has to offer (so if you are thinking about entering a competition yourself one day, this is a perfect resource.) Let's support GOOD magic when the opportunity presents itself on 7/16. David
My new DVD ("The magic of David Corsaro") is now available from your favorite dealer. Watch the DVD that Daryl, Jon Allen, Shawn Farquhar, Boris Wild, Marc DeSouza, Asi Wind and Paul Green ALL ENDORSE.

I kept writing things, then deleting them. Then writing again. Then deleting again.
I am really excited for Rick to be here. He really is a funny guy, and has a LOT of valuable information he will give us. I predict this one going well over 2 hours.

Tonight is the night!
From the site it says we will learn You will learn about: Rick's Stand Up Opener: A multiple selection card routine filled with unique and entertaining revelations, original comedy, and great thinking. This is the routine Rick has used to open his stand up show for more than 10 years. It's filled with laughs and magical moments - and just wait until you see the method! Rick's Close Up Opener: After cutting his teeth in restaurants for more than 7 years, Rick tips his opening close up routine along with all his lines and gags. He also explains the psychology behind his patter and why it works for him. Three Change: A three coin routine where the coins change but do not "fly". Visual coin magic in Rick's off-beat style. Royal Cut Flush: An amazing display of card skill without the hours of practice. The method is almost as amazing as the effect! Coin and Marker: The basis for Rick's Grand Prix FISM act involves a sharpie marker and a Morgan silver dollar. With these two items, Rick will show you how you can perform mind-blowing magic that's both visual and entertaining! Sleeving: Rick shares his work on this useful and secret technique. Empty Hand Vanish: Learn how to vanish a pen, pencil, or marker - with your sleeves rolled up! Pure sneakiness! BUT - I'm most excited about this part "Plus Rick will share stories from FISM, his travels abroad, his feelings on magic competition, and useful thoughts on creating original magic! You're guaranteed to laugh and have a great time!" http://www.murphysmagic.com/Streaming/Product.aspx?id=53827 |

In the mean time here's the demo if that helps -Kyle |

I know I really shouldn't be the one "reviewing" the lectures, but I basically was a spectator myself. I had asked Rick not to show me anything from the lecture, so everything you guys saw live, I was seeing live too!
He had me cracking up the whole time and his style and level of humor really added to the lecture. He went pretty in depth with his marker/coin act, tipped advice of working restaurants and even performed/explained his opener for such a venue. He shared with us his FISM journey and even he was able to build an act for such an event. Hope this helps.
