Hi Guys, I'm currently working on a my new tour for next year which will visit several theatres. In preparation, I have been asked to go on radio and to a local newspaper to "do something" for them. I'd very much like to do a headline prediction. I have never done a headline prediction with these kinds of circumstances where the prediction is given to the radio or newspaper a week or so in advance. Can anyone advise on where to start looking for a nice hands off (or appears to be hands off) method that will really look like they've had it in their possesion and I haven't touched it.
Apologies that my first post on here is a long one! Ive been performing mentalism for years and always used the Café for a guidance but never signed up until now! Many thanks Andrew |

Devin Knight has a few good thoughts on it.

I have heard and read lots about the Glass Box Revisited but was unsure of whether to get this. Would this be an ideal work for me?
Thanks for your response Magic.Maddy Andrew |

I don't mean to be argumentative but if you've been performing Mentalism for years, you should have a good enough grounding to allow for some creative thinking on this. There are lots of ways to achieve this effect and if you're doing it on Radio, you'd be surprised at what you'll get away "on air".
I'll PM you one that could suit you too.

I agree with innercirclewannabe.
How could you "really" perform and be interested by mentalism for years without general knowledge about it? For record, a malloy box, smash & stab, a MOABT and any promystic or labco products don't make you a mystery performer |

Not to pile on... but here's something else to consider...
How many of the great blues guitar players, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Robert Johnson, Albert King and so forth, could tell you the difference between a major and minor pentatonic scale? If you asked them they'd probably tell you, these are the notes that sound good to me so these are the ones I play. That would be the extent of their music theory knowledge. I'm not saying you shouldn't know as much as you want to know, (that's my preference) I am saying there's more than one way to skin a cat. |

I was simply giving you an example of how someone can perform and be interested in something without general knowledge. In fact as you've pointed out yourself, they can even become famous. |

My personal favorite headline prediction is John Riggs' News from Delphi that appeared on one of his DVDs.

Innercirclewannabe thank you very much for your PM. I appreciate that. I think my post was misunderstood here, perhaps my fault! I'm not asking for a method, I'm aware of lots of methods for performing this on air. What I was looking for rather for information on making the switch of the prediction seem hands off, to have radio staff confirm you have not been anywhere near the prediction since it was sent to them. I apologise if my post was misunderstood, but please don't take this opportunity to ASSUME that I'm some kind of amateur who knows nothing. I've worked with some of the biggest names in mentalism on not just my stage tours, but their own also. However, I don't know everything, and in this instance, I asked for a little advice on something I don't honestly know a huge deal about.
So thank you to those who did comment on this positively and helped me, I appreciate you doing this because isn't that what this site is for? |
