I was wondering about the 3 shell game. What set do you think is the best and not that expensive, and how does this effect play for a lay audience. Thanks

There are many great sets out there. Much depends on how you want to use the set, and under what conditions.
First check out this thread: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......37&7 That should help you understand some of the things that go into good shell sets. I'm sure many of the guys would be glad to discuss which sets they like and why. That thread gives you a pretty good start on what sort of things you might look for. |

Yo can download a video with the Three Shell Game here for free: http://www.mastermagic.info (videos)
This is my handling of the famous game and there are endless possibilites... Three Shell Game is perfect for Street Performing, if you have the courage. Its very fun to practise the shell game. I have also done my routine for small kids and they like it very much These shells makes them go nuts every time. When I did it for my sceptical friend he was almost crying when he lost some cash...hehe. If you do it for money don't play with big money, it can be dangerous Sometimes I use "imaginary" money in my routine. I carry these shells in my pocket almost every day: if an impromptu situation occur and it does. I hope you make them crazy as I do The best shells is found here, its great to have several different sets to adapt in any kind of situation: http://www.chefanton.com/entertain/SSshellgame.htm Mats G. Hi Kjellstrom,
Nice video, may I ask are the shells which you use in the video is the Magnetic street shells made by "School for Scoundrels" ? Thanks |

A good cheap set of shells are the ones Vernet market. These shells would be good to get the basics down with.
After that once you have a routine you like I would highly suggest you buy Andrew Pinard's shells called La majore shells (Not sure if I have the spelling right.) they are the best I have ever seen or used. the School For Scoundrels shells are nice too. |

The three shell game is fine especially where you involve an inverted glass aswell . that's what I do in my routine I place a shell to the side I put the pea under one shellput the other shell on top of it and finally put an inverted glass on top of everything and the pea is found under the shell you put aside
its on the book by lewis ganson . close up magic if I'm not wrong

Sniper1,
Thanks for telling me about Ganson's book, I happen to have Penguin's Golden Shells, but no rourine for them. You were right about "The Art of Close-Up Magic", vol 1. On page 103 is a routine. Thanks! Cheers Peo

Frank Garcia has a book (hard to find) called All in a Nutshell. He also has a routine on one of his videos. Bob King has a booklet called the Shell Game-The Real Work.

@denny:
I have found that I get good audience reactions since the shell game is so widely known and most people still wonder how it is done. If you just want to give it a try you might just get the Vernet plastic shells... they aren't too bad... |

Lat I heard Martin Joyal had "All in a Nutshell" for sale. You may want to contact him.
Your choices in life can be compared to watching a magic trick: You can continue to believe the illusion in front of you, find the intrigue and desire to learn more, or quit paying attention the moment you feel deceived.

Many people will say that Gary Oullet's "Super Shells" is the be all and end all of the 3 Shell game routines.
You can either buy it as a booklet or I believe It's on one of the Gary Oullet Best of Videos. There is also another good thread on MagicCafe regarding the 3 Shell game that can be found here By the Kjellstrom, I really enjoyed your 3 shell Video. I thought that it was wonderfully choreogrphaphed to the music, which (and correct me if I am wrong) was J.S. Bach's "Air on a G String?" (I only say this as someone asked) |
