Anyone heard of this eye candy effect from Bumpers Magical Workshop? Sounds like an effect that will fit in nicely with my act. Anyone using this?
Basically a bet is made after a chosen card s selected and proven to be incorrect. The card then visually turns into a dollar bill Any help would be appreciated. |

Imagealter,
Many years ago when I first got into magic I seen this effect and yes it was eye candy! And at that time I ate it up. But later came to see that, That's all it is eye candy. So I put it away in hopes I could find a good use for it. Then in 1991 David Acer put out a trick called "Pickpocket" the effect was a blank card is set aside, Then you show four cards with a sticker of a quarter on each. One at a time the quarters would vanish until you was left with four blank cards, and when you turned over the blank card that you set aside at the beginning NOW has all four quarters on it. So what I did was change the patter a little and added a wallet and made the "Betcha" card up with a blank card and put the four stickers of the quarters on there so at the end of the trick you can now turn the four quarters into a dollar bill. I showed this to David in 1999 at Magi-Fest in Columbus Ohio He seemed to like it, you can find it in his Natural Selections vol 2 For me I had to find a reason to be changing the card into a dollar other then missing the named card and saying "I'm glad we didn't really bet a dollar" But that's just me. Hope this helps Joe

I've been using Betcha regularly since I purchased my first one at least 10 years ago or so. I don;'t know if you saw the post I put up about it or not - it is a quick visual transformation of a playing card to a 1 dollar bill which you can then show both sides before putting it back in your wallet or pocket. I use it as both a quick impromptu trick which I can pull out of my wallet anytime when someone asks to see a trick but I also use it as an opener or lead in to something else. Change the card into a bill, begin to put the bill in your pocket, then pull it back out (?) and go into your favorite bill trick, bill switch etc.
For $12 I think you'll get a lot of use out of it. Available from larryfrankel@earthlink.net check it out. |
