What a loss, and completely overshadowed by Robin Williams' passing. A supurb actress.
On our return from the Sierra Nevada on Friday, when we stopped in Lone Pine for an ice cream cone (Marlana) and a malt (yours truly), the same woman who told us that Robin Williams had died also told us that Lauren Bacall had passed away. Sort of. In fact, she said that it was Faye Dunaway who had died. Her (20-something) daughter didn't know who Faye Dunaway was, so I suggested that she unearth a copy of The Thomas Crown Affair . . . the first one. Then Marlana suggested that she look up The Three Musketeers (and The Four Musketeers). Then the mom told the daughter that Faye Dunaway had been married to Humphrey Bogart, whereupon Marlana said that, no, that was Lauren Bacall. "You mean Lauren Bacall died?" "Oh, that's right: it was Lauren Bacall, not Faye Dunaway." |
