Book has arrived stateside!
Quick thoughts: Have seen Peter Turner use Myke's Searchlight Principle in one his Full Circle Q&A interviews, but in a different way. I actually like Myke's way of use it better, but overall it's speaks to the versatility of this idea. Fingerz would work PERFECTLY with Aaron Alexander's Bridge for those of you who have that, and great as a standalone too obviously. Both these ideas got me thinking in terms of milking every ounce of theater out a reveal. Subtleties like these are where it's at. Lastly, Myke is a great writer. You feel like he's sat directly across from you in a coffee shop letting you in on his secrets. Good times. |

This will be short for once...
This is a fantastic book! (And, it's a tomb! Huge!) Great effects, commentary, explanations, and a lot more that I find deeply helpful/ Benificial. And here's an often overlooked aspect imo; He's what he appears to be. A real "worker" that loves our craft. Good, good, great stuff here. Thanks Myke, you produced a book that will be sitting up on my top shelf proudly. (That's probably not true. Odds are it'll be read daily, reffered to often, and most likely live on my bedside table
My two cents folks is this; For some reason this book has kinda flown under the radar. Don't take that as a reflection on the product. Myke really flew above and beyond here. Hope everyone reading this has a great day

Myke, I have told you this before but I love Olivia (the book). The searchlight principle has to be my favourite thing. Even if you don't hit on the letter they are thinking of it still gets a hit. Really adds a moment - even though it is only one letter, it can be played up huge! Your double writing principle was fantastic too!
I saw on facebook you are sadly taking a break - well I wish you the best and can't wait to hear from you in the future! |

No idea if anyone will see this, but I had wanted to purchase Olivia when Myke released it a few years ago and unfortunately did not purchase it before it was sold out.
So, today, someone actually mentioned in a magic Facebook group that they were selling their copy (not sure why since this sounds like such an amazing book), and I now have one main question for anyone that owns the book: Are any of the iPhone effects outdated now because of iOS 11 (and 12 coming soon)? They all sounded really strong and I want to hopefully be able to still perform them. (The seller was not sure about this since they do not have an iPhone.) Thank you! - Ari |
