My children's shows are pretty much set and I do very well with the pricing I have in place now; it's less then I charge for my adult shows, but I love doing them. For my corporate events and adult parties, I am in a major market that pays very well with many competing magicians, so it is necessary to sell myself. In many cases for a special event the company has a budget set aside for entertainment. If the opportunity presents itself, I will ask what the budget is before reveling my fee; if the budget is large enough, I will toss in extras to sweeten the deal and make it more advantages to hire me; if the budget is low, I will offer less to match the price of the budget and discuss additional services to raise the budget and hopefully meet my fee; in most instances this plan works and some times it fails, but in a major market with lots of competition it is necessary to negotiate to a point to be completive, or I can stand firm on my price and sit at home and watch reruns of Special Victims Unit on cable. |

Roger; What you posted in this thread has nothing to do with wisdom; you were picking on Lou with your silly comments like driving while booking a show and not being able to Google clients Additionally, I'm glad you finally recognized a fact; I work in a major market; performing in and around San Francisco almost every day as a magician. You on the other hand are in some out of the way small hick town in Arizona; and your so embarrassed about it that you have the United Kingdom as your location on the Café. You MAY have had an illustrious career in the past, but that's the past; now your time is spent pushing your products shamelessly on the café; BTW weren't you banned from the Café for pushing your products. Please stop nitpicking and let Lou focus on his positive information on his thread. As I have had to do in other threads where your negative posts has disrupted a thread. I will no longer reply to your posts in this thread; stop following me around the café and hijacking threads. Lou I apologize for disrupting your thread; I couldn't stand by as Roger picked apart the good information you took the time to post. |

We all love you Howie...seriously. I actually had no idea who you were until someone sent me this amazing video clip. What a talent:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cgmoT7gRwc JR PS: I have a feeling I posted on this thread before you did, Howie. I am not sure that constitutes ME following YOU around the Café....but I am sure you are right.... so I bow to your brilliance!!! |

Yes Roger, I am quite proud about the snake routine, it is always asked for by the parents that see it on the video page of my website.
I also sell the snake to other magicians who would like to perform it; in fact the Great Zucchini in Washington D.C. purchased one of my snake baskets to add to his show and he tells me that it is the best running gag in his show; PM him and ask him how he likes it. Roger, we are both good performers, you don't need to be sarcastic by saying you bow to my brilliance, all I ask is that you don't pick on one point in a thread that Lou has worked very hard on posting and beat it to death with you remarks. Lou has seven good points he posted, if one doesn't work for a magician, look at the other six to help out. |

Lou.........sorry about all this. As I said earlier, your original post was great, and I only had one genuine question about one of the points which you answered admirably. I appreciate your insights, and I am sorry that this thread has gone off tangent but I felt it necessary to respond to Howie. JR

I was taking a look at the clip JR put up. Unfortunately it was late and I fell asleep after the first 10 seconds. Was there a snake? I must have missed it.
