We just got this in at the local magic shop. George Brett would have LOVED this stuff!

I can't believe someone scraped it into a container and got Eric Jones to back it up. Is anyone REALLY using this stuff?!

I just received some. It's interesting - good for coins across and helps with the color changing knifes. But after the effect is over, they recommend removing the stuff with mineral spirits before doing your next trick (??) Not really very practical, unless your whole routine revolves around Octogel. But it does what they say it does.

I recently purchased Octopalm and it serves its purpose, but the feeling of it on your hands is just terrible.

You might want to read the other thread about octopalm, in Latest and Greatest? I believe. But firstly, it isn't applied everywhere on your fingers; only where it is needed for the particular trick which might be on the backside of a finger. It won't necessarily affect later sleights, but it might, which is where routining comes in. Some people here have offered alternatives to mineral spirits or turpentine for a quick cleanup if needed.
I don't believe this product is for everyone, but I can see its value for many of us by making a lot of moves easier to do. I bought a couple of jars which should last me several years, but have not yet put it to use. BTW it does not come with a DVD but has a link to an online video which is pretty good. If I form a significant opinion after using this stuff for awhile, I shall post it.

Take a look at Rubiales's video of a matrix/backfire effect he worked up using Octopalm. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmAUow0KhUA
That got my thought processes going on using Octopalm! Jim |
