I put this thread in a different section of the forum but decided afterwards it would be best to post it here instead.
I would just like to say congratulations to the magician who won America's Got Talent. I think he did an awesome job and made the rest of us magicians look good as well as brought good credit to the Art of Magic and the profession of magician. My thanks, congratulations and gratitude to the magician who won the contest!

Welcome back General. It is cool to see magic doing well.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

As far as magic goes I am a fan and just an amateur card guy and only do it for the love of it and doing fine thank you. Magic, in all its forms, watching good magic, is my favourite form of entertainment or escape from it all.

I see it, but I can't believe it!
What a FANTASTIC performance. This puts magic back where it should be! |

It was a welcome occurrence to finally see a magician "go all the way"!!! Haven't heard Chris Berman say that yet this year!

It is indeed awesome to see a magician win America's Got Talent ... it certainly confirms a lot of our suspicions ... the show is rigged for sure.
I haven't actually seen his performances yet, but I'm sure it'll come across my Facebook/Youtube feed soon enough. I heard he does OOTW which is a favorite of mine. -JoeJoe

I honestly thought the Café would be going banana's over this ... Wonder why they aren't.

There is a thread about this in "Workers" and "Table Hoppers and Party Strollers". I think the discussion is diffused.
When there are a couple of threads on the same subject I usually pick one because it gets confusing and repetitive to be in several. -Mary Mowder |

I was delighted ... and a little surprised ... to see Mat Franco win the competition. He blew the judges away! I thought he came across as humble but confident, had a great personality, and worked hard at customizing each of his presentations.

Strange that no one, including the OP, mentioned the winner's name. After all, isn't name recognition one of the main benefits of winning?
So, congratulations to Mat Franco on winning America's Got Talent! |

I think Arthur and I must have been posting at almost the same time as I didn't see his post until after I put up mine.
The thing is, though, that magic has come to be viewed as a generic form of entertainment- so much so that I've even seen bumper stickers that say "Hire a Magician." Do you supposed that Frank Sinatra had a sign on his car that said, "Hire a Singer?" To succeed in any area of show business, the most fundamental requirement is that people remember your name. |
