I recently picked up a copy of Richard's Almanac due to so many recommendations here on the Café'. Now that I have it, I'd like to hear some specific effects you really like. Please don't post "Read it all" as I intend to read it completely, I'd just like to hear what some favorites are. Thanks.

One of My favorites a version of the Hotel trick. I can't remember the name of the version however. Nor can I remember if it is Lou Gallow's or Mike Gallow's. I do know it is one or the other of them.
Michael Skinner's Sentamental aces is also in there. There is realy too many good items to list them all. |

Its been so long since I looked through my copy, but there were a few great effects by Sankey. I especially liked the effect he has with a Band-Aid and a chosen card.

Near the front of the book, Richard lists some of this personal favorites. That's a good place to start and I found it a very impressive and diverse tour of the volume.

Rubber Ringer, Carneys Partical Push, Pauls Bill Comes Due, Green Warp, Triple E.G. Spell bound, 8 coin matrix, The signed card, Flashlink/Linking Stanley, Striker, Reversi, George Steps out, Coin Glass and Napkin.
Those are some of the ones I have marked in the book. Man I haven't looked at it in a while and now I'm all fired up about it. It is my favorite Kaufman publication and I love just reading through it. Also be sure to look at "The Thirty Six Picks" on page ixxii . Its kaufmans favorites and most of those are the best ones.( Quote: )

Check out my new effect "As Good As It Gets" a gimmickles pencil or pen through bill effect. It closely mimmicks the slow motion phase of "Misled." About "As Good AS It Gets" for no gimmicks and everything being borrowed.

I use Allen Okawa's Wishing Shells (copper/silver with sea shells) constantly in my walk-around work. I use two spectators who each are asked to make a secret wish while holding the shells. My wish is that their shells transpose. Mine comes true, so hopefully theirs will too (and I expect 10% when it does!). If find this is an excellent opening effect ("If I were a real magician, I ought to be able to make wishes come true... Think of a wish...").

Meta-ssembly by Larry Jennings is excellent, I also particularly enjoyed David Williamson's coin effect.
There is definately a lot of interesting and useful material in here, a brilliant collection from some top magic thinkers. Shane Wiker posted a huge review of the book: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=110 Owen |

Airtight slays. Gallos Ball and Vase is fun to use at a magic shop on those who say "I know that one". Hammans the Signed Card, Rubber Ringer, HPC-CPH. I know, I know...and to make a long story even longer...but, hey, you did ask, though your mileage may vary.

Richard's Almanac is where I learnt the "Gallo Pitch". An excellent utility sleight. It's in one of the early issues. Can't remember which one off the top of my head.

The Lou Gallo Hotel trick is called "Only The Lonely". In my opinion this is the finest version of the trick in existance. Mike Skinner can be seen performing it on one of the videos that Houdini Magic put out. My favorites from the Almanac include Plastic Man and Holy P.O.D. from the first Winter Extra (i think) and all the stuff in the Mike Skinner issue.
