I'm am looking for a levitaion for my show. I am narrowing down to either the Gamalo or Dev-Ray. On this site I have seen questions in regard to breaks in the Gamalo. Was that an isolated incident or is it common? My sidekick in the show weighs about 185lbs. I havent talked to anyone who actualy owns the Dev-Ray. So all I get from magicians is "It looks cool in the ad". Please someone help me out. If you own a Gamolo or Dev-Ray let me know what you like and dislike about them. My only other alternative is to design and build my own. Thanks.
P.S. Does any one know who designed and built the Dev-Ray Levitation? Or possible have a phone number so I can talk to him personally. |

I can't help you with the first question, but in regards to your P.S., I believe Devin Knight designed and builds it. He can be contacted at sales@illusionconcepts.com (the phone number is posted there) or send a PM through the Magic Café, as he is a member. Search for his name "magicbuilder" in order to PM him.

Stay away from the Gamalo. It will break and is very noisy. It will not hold 185 pounds for very long without falling to the floor!

The main problem you will have with any illusion is the weight of your sidekick. Not to be rude, but all illusions are made for the 120 to 140 lb. assistant. You will have to build all your illusions yourself and increase the strength, and this will increase the carring weight. I had a friend who built his illusions at twice the gaff thickness. You could hardly lift the things to mover or perform the trick.

The Dev-Ray is supposed to be able to lift 250 pounds safely.
I don't doubt it, but if this thing is operated by what I think it is, there is a potential for having to close the curtains if you forget to charge something!!!!

Of course an ending like that makes Andre' Kole's levitation so different and mysterious!
