I just purchased Rich Hill's Spikes illusion. I am trying to figure out exactly how to incorporate it into my routine. Does anyone have any suggestions on how they use this illusion?
Thanks! |

You bought it without having that thought out first?

I know the basic routine but have not performed it live. I always practice and try to work creative ways to incorporate illusions into my routine before I ever perform it live. I do purchase or build things that after practice and working with them, I decide just aren't right and they never make it into my show. Thankfully that doesn't happen that often!
Just wondered if anyone who is using it has any advice on how they use it or any limitations or difficulties (without getting into the mechancis and giving anything away). Thank you! |

That's an expensive investment to make without first having a vision about how you want to perform it. I have owned this illusion for many years, but before buying it, I had a routine designed that specifically fit my character and my show. Unfortunately, what works for me probably won't work for you. The only advice I can give is to think about the props and what they could possibly represent. Then keep asking yourself "Why". Why do you put the box over the volunteer's head? Why do you insert the spikes? Why does the head vanish? The answers to "What" and "Why" often go hand-in-hand. Hope that helps.

Sometimes you just hear a piece of music that inspires you but having the inner script, motivation or giving it legs may be an internal process.
