Ken, never feel bad about telling the truth. I’m sure others felt the same way, but even so, that could have been cleared up easily.
As others have said, it all goes back to proper planning beforehand. You need a script and you need to stick to it. Tom

Can I quote you on the telling the truth Tom? Seems as if it upsets you when we do it around here.

Depends on who the judge of the truth is going to be.
Sometimes my truth is different from the naysayers here who are negative about everything. Come to think of it, announcing it here in this section was their first mistake. You have to sneak it in here. Tom

Yes your "truth" is definitely different from most others.
Too bad that supposed truth can cost people money. And it is funny Tom that those of us you call naysayers were SUPPORTIVE of this! But then again reality all too often has nothing to do with your "truth". How about if we just use facts and reality as truth instead of your fantasy land ideas? It will be much easier. Nobody has to judged thst way.

For the record, I wasn’t for or against this. I have no idea who most of them are. But yes, I’m most always in flavor of those who have product to sell,
writes a new book, blog, or just wanting to help others in some way. Yes, I’m a yes man and cheerleader for those wanting to do something. And I do feel bad that this convention didn’t work out. Hopefully they have learned from the mistakes, letdowns, and disappointments, and can move on. The truth is it didn't work out. But please lets not make it sound like its best it didn't, or make it a I told you so thing. Tom

The promoters would have likely lost money and very likely credibility, the special guests would have done poorly and likely lost money and income opportunities while incurring expenses, those in attendance likely would have been dissatisfied and as Tom J. mentioned lost income in the form of turning down bookings (which is why this should have been on the weekdays if targeting working professionals) not to mention the cost of travel, lodging, meals, at event purchases, and admission. There are many ways and reasons that it may be best it didn't happen! As for the "I told you so thing" it was only pointed out by obvious statements, tactics and structure that it was being produced by inexperienced promoters which was easily identified by nearly everyone. Some just identified it earlier than others while STILL OFFERING SUPPORT and a willingness to provide insight and assist. This is the flaw in your endless cheerleading for absolutely anyone that attempts anything, good or bad, quality or poor here Tom. The truth is support isn't equal, there are right and wrong ways to do things, proper and improper, professional and unprofessional and usually those that take the time to learn, listen, educate themselves, have comprehension and are willing to then take action, are different from those who haven't are are just attempting to get by by the seat of their pants, luck and the help and names of others (no one in specific but in general). As much as you like to believe differently, there is a difference. Support, like trust and respect, should be earned not just given. |

Yes Tom your cheer leading can cost people money. I have never seen you admit this and maybe this is good for you. To just blindly support people who are doing whatever, just because they are doing something completely ignores what it is they might be doing. It may not be "helpful" in the least! It may cost people money and time and send them down the wrong road. What good is that exactly Tom? Who does this help?
Endless cheer leading also has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TRUTH. This is a fact. You admit you cheer for anyone and encourage them no matter what the truth is. So your allegiance is not to the truth, it is simply to cheering those on who try something. That is not the truth. That is a fantasy world in which every opinion is equal. I really wish you would stop telling others how to post. It is tiresome. You cheer lead fine no problem. Don't tell us how we can post ok? If you don't like it don't read. And if you don't want to turn this into "I told you so" then why would you say the following? "Some may feel that all the negative stuff on this thread helped with killing it. Certainly did not help. But I guess that’s life. Tom" Seems like an I told you so to me. So if you want these things Tom maybe YOU need to start to act like you want others to. I think this is a good idea. But my first thought is it will take some years of producing it in the red prior to it becoming a thing. It needs a small amount of people to start it and then it needs to grow organically. It will not be something that is an instant hit. The presenters need to be compensated for their time and not hope to sell people that attend. If you want to produce this and depend on ticket sales in order to be able to do it then it is a major mistake.

Of course it was for Ken. That's his name on it. I didn’t know I needed yours or mindpros permission to say it.
Nor was I expecting it to be compared to everything I’ve ever said on here. Y’all could at least be nice on Sunday. Tom

Hey man maybe not saying others are responsible and calling names like naysayers would get you some slack.
