Hey guys,
Paul Vigil has a new book out that is over 250 pages, filled with 4 of his worker effects for parlour, stage, and even closeup. 1) Pauls take on The Endless Chain, with new twists and turns 2) Update, which is an update to an old T.A. Waters effect called Backdate. 3) The Multiple Selection, if you were lucky to catch Pauls show at King Ink, he performed this effect sometimes. 4) High Five updated....think you know High Five...think again.....Paul has made this a show-stopper. I have personally seen Paul perform the new version of High five, The Multiple Selection, and at TAOM Austin Paul performed Update which fooled a lot of people and was very entertaining. If you want to elevate your game, what are you waiting for. I bought the #1 Copy that is why I know its good. Price: $200 contact Paul Vigil for more information, limited to 500 copies. Contact paul at: paul@paulvigil.com Thanks Alex Alejandro

Hi Gang,
While my book is not strictly mentalism there is, of course, some mental effects inside. Those of you who've seen me perform know I blend both (contrary to the advice of many!). I do what I like, and what I'd like to see; simple. What I did want to hip everyone to before it's too late is that I'm offering free shipping to anywhere if ordered before tomorrow (Mon Dec 1). Afterwards it'll be about $10 domestic and $20 international (from what I can gather). They'll start shipping this week. I'm very proud of the material inside, it's all stuff from my professional repertoire that's been refined over quite a few years; some of these things I've worked on for 20+. To give you some details of what's up here is the foreword (by Johnny "The Great Tomsoni" Thompson): I first met Paul Vigil at my Las Vegas home thirteen years ago, and we soon became fast friends and magical confidants. During our first session I realized that he was a far more skillful and inventive magician than I initially had imagined him to be. Over the years we have spent many nights discussing magic and developing sleights, methods, moves, subtleties and effects. Paul is an adroit practitioner of our art, and his magic, if carefully studied, will provide you, the reader, with material that could make you a stellar performer. This booklet contains a collection of four classic effects from the repertoire of a professional working magician — magic that’s audience tested and carefully explained in complete detail, including plot lines and structure. “The Multiple Selection” has been a feature effect of a great many performers, but unlike most routines (which rely on a series of rather quick, slick flourishes for the revelations) Paul’s opening entry is a very magical handling that comprises eight startling effects. In addition, following the informative text, Paul explains how to cut the routine down to accommodate smaller groups of participants. Paul’s treatise on “The Endless Chain,” which contains three new throws that deliver different outcomes, advances this plot to new dimensions. It’s a fully explained three-phase routine that opens with Patrick Page’s classic, “Flash Cash,” and ends with a novel finish that leaves the participants utterly dumbfounded. His third entry is a variation of T.A. Waters’ “Backdate,” which is a routine based on Persi Diaconis and Peter Pit’s “The Card on the Back.” Paul performs it as a mental effect just as T.A. Waters did. The problem with this effect has always been the mechanics. Paul, through intense research and development, solved this most difficult problem, and he provides you with all the necessary information required to accomplish and perform this most unique mental mystery. The last entry, “High Five,” is Paul’s handling of “The Blindfold Poker Deal.” His version does away with the poker demonstration aspect and instead provides the performer with a series of entertaining revelations of mentally selected cards. It relies on his streamlined handling of Gene Finnell’s Free Cut Principle. There is a section that involves the Le Paul Wallet, and it is the first time someone has found a practical and believable presentation for the “Card in the Envelope.” Paul also provides three contingency effects that can be interspersed into the routine. One of particular interest is his handling of Hofzinzer’s “Stop Trick.” The text and material contained in this collection is not for the beginner. It is for the serious student who desires quality material. Every routine should be closely studied and practiced. Paul has developed four beautifully constructed effects in which every detail has been carefully worked out; so the serious student should have no difficulty in executing the routines. John Thompson Las Vegas, Nevada November 2014 Hope that helps! For anything further, I'll pop in and out here today to see if anyone has questions or concerns. Bye. |

Gang,
Recent news has come to light regarding my new book, Classic Fantastic. Apparently, a group of people have conspired to pitch in together , make copies, and then distribute the digital file. Whoa! I'm going to share what I have, what my solution is, and open the floor for to anybody else who may have input toward a resolution. Look, there is so so so much magic out there for anyone of us to learn (it's freaking free ALL DAY on youtube), and these guys want to ruin my good thing. I didn't want to share this with everyone, hence the limited copies. Another part that just eats at me is that these guys will make a handful of copies for themselves, share with others, then their friends spread it around and, before you know it, it's everywhere. Wasn't my plan. At all. You know, as well as I do, once the .pdf is out there my control over it is null. I really wanted to ship these books out as soon as possible, but with my knowing one (or more) of these people is someone who's already purchased a copy it leaves me with little room to wiggle. So, I will need an extra day or two, not only to finish the numbering and signing of each of these 500 copies; I will also be needing a short period of time to place a subtle identifying feature somewhere in each copy and document these for every single one, and then keep a record them, too. This way, when a download does come up on the web, I'll know (and so will you) exactly who did the deed. One of these guys on here even says he's my friend! No; you're not. Try to mess with my livelihood and other people who've invested in me and, I promise, when I find out who it is doing me wrong you'll never hear the end of it. Regret is imminent. Shame will be your shadow. I will laugh as you later cry and karma stomps on your already wrinkled morals. Here's the email they used to collect the fiendish funds: aomgroupbuy@gmail.com (Anyone bored?) Some other emails associated here: dphorm@hotmail.com (kioken), linked here: http://www.dailymotion.com/controller/Pa......%2F2%3A5 to this: http://www.dailymotion.com/kioken I think I'll be looking at who's ordering from Portugal... Refunds will not be granted; thanks for playing! What a world we live in where people don't even consider the moral failure of such a deed. I'm glad you got a heads up and wish you all the best in your efforts to protect your property. You are one of the "real thinkers" out there, have always been generous with your time and knowledge and certainly don't deserve to be put in this position. Somehow that this conspiracy happened so quickly upon the release of your latest book seems to make it all the more despicable.

A few years back had the pleasure of bringing a friend of mine to King Ink to watch Paul perform. I had been dragging this guy all over town watching P&T, Gerry McCambridge, etc. (we passed on Criss Angel) At week's end, I asked what he liked best and without pausing a beat he said "Paul". His performance and demeanor were quite different than I expected and though he was busy he spent a few minutes chatting with me after the show.
In short, Paul is eminently likable and has a passion for what he's doing -- two traits that are in shorter supply than they should be. Paul, to echo Bill's sentiments it's a real shame that you've been put in this position and I wish you the best moving forward.

Wow.
Just...wow. I hadn't read this thread until today. Paul: I am very sorry this happened to you. To do this to someone who is in the same community? Treating their work with no respect? In my mind, they are on the same level as someone who exposes secrets. They are lowlife losers who are killing the art. If I can help in any way, let me know. David

Thanks, David.
Although I feel some have read the above wrong. Although this group had paid for a book they were not shipped yet, so they never got it. Luckily I found out about their plot beforehand; whew. Best, Paul |

Yes, definitely missed that, Paul! I am truly glad to hear that you were able to intervene before they got their hands on your book. It is nice to have a story like this end well for a change.

Even if the books were all individually marked, tracing a scanned book back to any particular buyer seems pretty unlikely since Paul has now chosen to distribute through Murphy's, so the book is now being sold through a wide variety of dealers.
In the interest of selling the units, the books now appear several steps beyond Paul's ability to monitor them. |

It is incidents like this that make it tough for the rest of us. If their intellectual property is going to be ripped off, there is no reason to share their work. How sad this is. All the best with your book.

Have been looking everywhere for Classic Fantastic knowing I wouldnt find it because of the limited copies available, I typed in Paul Vigil Calssic fantastic download on the off chance you offered a downloadable purchase option (even though that would go against all logic lol... desperate times)... And I did find a pdf version (but not sold by Paul )
Take a survey and your download begins (and my download actually did begin no joke), fortunately it was NOT the whole book, just Backdate however to me that was just to much anyway Proud to say I didn't even read those pages, although the tempt was there for sure. Paul if it matters, I could find the site again... Im only posting this because Backdate is such a miracle and for it to be out there for anyone to download makes me angry I sympathize with the struggles of authors and creators, just please don't give up on the rest of us honest magicions ("Honest magicians" ) Anyway just wanted to rant a little. Thanks, Ryan.
The more I learn, the less I seem to know.
