I used to preform this trick like 6 years ago for a small amount of time, but I forgot the complete routine, and since it wasn't a bought trick, I need to rely on youtube preformances.
can you guys help me out? I think is consists of two routines. and it's not thriumph. I also am not looking for the secret to the effects (I can remember those) here's what I can remember of it: the trick uses 2 sealed ordinairy decks, one is handed out to the spectator, the preformer keeps the other one. they shuffle the deck thurougly they each select a card by lifting aproximately 2/3 of the deck. after that the decks are cut in halves. the preformer them tells a story that one time he preformed this trick a bystander flipped one half of the deck when he wasn't paying attention. an continue to riffle shuffle the deck back into one. the preformer shows that his deck is completely messed up. squares it back up, shuffles it once more, snaps his fingers and the deck is back to normal. then de spectator shuffles his two halves back to one. and the preformer and spectator switch decks. they then find their own chosen card is each other deck and on the count of 3 they throw them open on the table. and they are both the same card. Hope you know what I mean? |

If so, there may be a problem. Is the video supplied by the originator of the effect or does it have the originator's endorsement? If not, then please don't post it here. Many people learn tricks by purchasing them or reading about them in books and magazines. Some people like to post videos on youtube to teach others these effects. Many people here, myself included, see this as highly inappropriate exposure, so this is not encouraged. We realize that a lot of people really don't care about protecting the secrets in magic. However, a great many magicians in the world have grown up with the rule - Don't reveal the secret! - and they still believe it. There is a difference between teaching people magic that want to learn it and practice the art correctly, and simply posting how-to videos on the internet for the public to view. |

"You Do As I Do" is also the trick that helped Anthony Hopkins in seducing Ann-Margret in the film _Magic_:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFTAnYcytMU I remember seeing Jay Ose perform a triple coincidence version (three cards match in the routine) on an old "Art Linkletter's House Party" TV show. (He also performed Peter Kane's "Bullet Trick" on that show). I'm not sure how many magicians appeared on "House Party," but I also remember Marian Chavez being on the show once and she did card flourishes. The version Jay Ose performed was written up in _Scarne on Card Tricks_ and Dai Vernon included it in his lecture. When I perform this trick I patter that "Anthony Hopkins performed this trick for Ann-Margret and she wanted to go to bed with him. I did it for the (name your favorite football team's cheerleaders) and they _all_ wanted to go to bed with me!" ----- Amado "Sonny" Narvaez
