This guy can't get a break. It's relatively harsh from a normally 'generous' newspaper. What is bad is he's doing all these things 'on purpose' with stooges, and it's not giving the impressions to the audience he thought it would. I was hoping it might be a fresh start for him-- guess not. |

The critic is apparently confusing Jack Benny with Rodney Dangerfield, for one thing.

If he sucks so bad, why is he so famous? It seems like there are lots of other better magicians out there who don't have near the notoriety of Steve. What do the tickets for the show cost?

A lot of people seem to speculate that money has a lot to do with Steve's success.

He is not famous. LOL, ask a layman if they know who he is...then ask if they know who David Copperfield is, or who Siegfried and Roy are. I can tell that it's not the tricks that are bad, it's his personality. If you don't have a connection with the audience, then it will be considered a bad show. Although he has gotten a lot better since a few years ago.

I have not seen the show, but have not heard very good things from those who have. So it is not just the newspaper that is giving him a bad review.
Why is he working, you may ask, if the show is not that good? The show is four walled. Meaning the show room is rented. If you have the money, it is not too hard to get into an empty showroom. I'm sure Steve could be very good, but from what I understand he puts things into the show that are not rehearsed very well, etc. Of course things are not going to go very well in that case. |

He wasn't that good at his last show.

Last time I was in Vegas, I was told "Steve is a rich guy who has bought a lot of magic." And as we should all know, just because you own the props doesn't make you a good magician. I've been told by MANY people that his show is really bad. The illusions are neat, but not worth watching because of him. He's able to get booked everywhere because he is one of few people that has the HUGE props that he has. Just what I've been told. From what I've seen of him on TV, I can't really disagree. He has never impressed me.
