EXCELLENT BOOK !!
One of the highlights of the book is the explanation of the famous Gallo Pitch a unique move in coin magic. There are approx. 49 effects, mostly cards, but the effects are unique, and very entertaining and fun to learn as well as to watch. Lou Gallo incorporates regular cards in many of the effects that make it look like you are using gimmicked cards. One would say that is what card magic is supposed to look like. Somehow these effects are different. One example is " All Backs Potpourri" Lou say's "this routine makes no sense whatsoever, but there are some good routines like that and this is one of them". He desribes the routine : It's "Hellzapoppin" with pasteboards with some throw-offs tossed in for brother magicians. You show 4 aces, then they disappear, leaving you with all backs/ no faces/ suddenly the ace of spades just appears and you end with a royal flush in spades. This description does not do the routine justice, it is a jawdropper. There are so many good entertaining routines with full decks and with just packets of cards and entertaing story lines. There is also a sponge ball routine, a toothpick and dollar bill penetration called Rubick's Revenge, and a Routine called "SHOCK" a short routine with lots of magic using a borrowed cigarette that vanishes and reappears 4 times then changes into a bottle of beer. (I'm sure you could substitute something else for the cigarette) Wide variety of material here. I forgot to mention, there is also a okito box routine used in a card effect as well as a matchbook revelation. I could go on... I'm glad I have the book in my library. David Paul

I do not believe a list of the index would be of any benefit to anyone. Example: A coin trick could be called the Traveling Card. I did a search on the Genii site and they do not give any details. To ask someone who invested his money for the book, to give you a detailed review of every item is not beyond simply helping someone. I feel you must make your decision on what the publisher considers important information for you to make a decision. If you are note familiar with Lou Gallo reputation, then I can only say that he is considered one of the best coin men in magic today. Good luck on your decision to purchase this book or not. |
