On the latest issue of Reel Magic, (Issue 40), Francis Menotti does a slick bill change to silver dollar and back to bill again. It uses SOH from bill switching and well as coin magic technique.
This is tipless. I've messed around with it and altered some of the coin sleights required and changed the ending a bit. As with many bill changes, it still difficult to motivate the last switch back to a bill as it was when you started. If I could ditch the bill after the first change to the silver dollar (16ths fold), I suppose I could go right into a coin flurry or other coin routine and this might be a clever way to produce the silver dollar. Anyone know how I could ditch that small folded bill packet? Thanks for any suggestions and check out Reel Magic Issue #40 with Francis Minotti...the routine he does is called "Bilver." cp

I have also changed some of the handling but I liked the original premise..I actually have a silver certificate bill and talk about exchanging it for real silver...I just finger palm the folded bill and ditch it when I have the chance..I also did not wish to change the coin back to the bill...Howard

Howard -
This is all a bit of a challenge if you have small hands like I do, but I have never seen a switch to a silver dollar like this...Not in Lovick's Switch either. A genuine silver certificate and an old silver dollar make for a downright interesting routine for an older spec especially who knows about the bill. Then what, do you go into a coin routine? If you can do a descent edge grip, try doing the entire routine in and out of edge grip....frees up the fingers and makes for some nice open displays...just an idea.

My hands are not that big either. You can go into a one coin routine using the silver dollar. I tried holding it in edge grip but it is too big and heavy for me so I would probably use finger palm. I thought about producing two silver halves as the bill is folded up using standard load from either classic or finger palm. Then use those two coins to go into any other routine. So many possibilities after silver dollar is produced...Howard

I admit, I had to re-visit edge grip (ala Kainoa), and work with it a bit in order to do the bill switch to coin completely out of edge grip. But it yields remarkably clean displays!
That bill provides great cover for a lot of props alright - including more than one silver dollar. Great idea Howard. Now 'll have to mess around with that. I also think that a bill to silver dollar transformation is in some ways more stark and surprising and magical than a bill to bill change. Anyway, a "bill to coin change" is a great concept to transition from one to the other....magically! cp

I think squeezing the silver out of the bill is a good premise...then show the silver certificate has changed to different type of bill (fake money) for instance...sort of like Carney's Logical Bill Trick...Just a thought!..Howard

Wow, that would be a wonderful three phase bill switch: squeezing the silver from an authentic silver certificate and then returning the certificate to a regular dollar (w/o the "silver certificate" Imprinted on the original).
Always a problem (if you let it) with serial numbers, but just don't go there with the specs. Just squeezing the silver out of the greenback is a charming light hearted non sequitur and transition to a coin trick or two - and to close, perhaps a final switch back to the bill, as you started. Good thinking, Howard....thanks, I have work to do with this bill to Morgan.... cp
