Hi Spookies,
I am going to be doing a roadtrip in April, meandering from Texas to Florida. We have a few required stops, but our itinerary is open. We are interested in folklore, the supernatural, oddities and the unusual. I figured if anyone had insights into uniques places to visit, from magic shops to cult compounds, it would be the fraternity in Spooky. Please advise! Cheers, Lucien:. |

Is there any trace left of the Branch Davidians? You could claim to have found a spent cartiridge at the site of their old compound and that you made it into a necklace, but when held it moved in strange ways and seemed to ge answering thought of questions.

Emily Morgan Hotel in San Antonio, Texas. I was just there, but alas, the wife was with me; she has a tendency to scare ghosts away. Visit the old mission sites as well, you are bound to have an encounter now that my wife is now back in Oregon. For older, more sophisticated spirits, hike the Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, although get there early to avoid the hoards of people.

If you need a place to stop on the way, I am in Little Rock. You are welcome to stay. My home is open and filled with some pretty unusual stuff!
We have an extra room and bed. I can also take you around. |

Oddfellow's Rest and the neighboring cemeteries in Metairie/New Orleans are beautiful in a macabre sense. The Lafayette cemeteries are also beautiful ... of course there is Marie Laveau's Tomb. Just be careful as he tomb is in a crime ridden area and tourists seemed to get mugged/harassed in that area without a guide.
In the French quarter there are a lot of really Historic interesting (and Haunted) sites ... but don't miss the LaLaurie House and Lafitte's Blacksmith shop Bar. On your way from Texas, stop in and spend a night at The Myrtles plantation. Supposedly, the most haunted plantation in America. -Robert |

Thanks everyone, and special thanks for your generous offer Paul! There will be three creepy Canadians, and if we happen to be in your neck of the woods, we would love to go out for a pint!

Haunted Dahlonega, GA. There is even a book on it, which I'd be happy to share with you. If you tend this far north (above Atlanta), there's a warm room and bed waiting for you (and Mary Poppins) here, too.

We also have at least two books on Haunted Augusta and The Augusta Ghost Trolley Tour, of which I am personal friends with the owner as well as a featured special guest several times a year, so I can definitely point you in the right direction if you come through.
That invitation extends to any and all of you bizarre ladies and gentlemen. Prof BC - I'd love to have you come over sometime and take a tour as our special guest! |

I used to live in Mobile and know they have some places there and a lot in Mississippi.
Depends where in Texas you are coming from and if you will be traveling via the coast. Here is a listing: http://www.hauntedplaces.org/mobile-al/ http://www.hauntedplaces.org/state/Mississippi

Come by Savannah, GA. Most haunted city in the United States! Plus great food and to-go cups at all the bars in the historic district. You can't throw a rock and not hit something haunted.

The South is a pretty big place, and there are LOTS of routes from Texas to FLA. If you post your route or your list of towns, we'd probably be able to better steer you toward the weird. Just sayin'.
P.S. We get plenty of creepy Canadians down in Texas. Fred Eaglesmith is a semi-regular attraction. |

And to answer Brynmore14: Yes, there are quite a few traces of the Branch Davidian compound.
