1) Why doesn't this thread exist already?
2) Why am I, of all people, starting this thread? ( (A) I'm a Yank. (B) I have no background in magic.) 3) Why do I feel perfectly comfortable if the secret of The Berglas Effect is never revealed? |

Dan Harlan made reference to Ernie Kovacs, a visionary American comedian who died too young.

No one knows why you started this thread...especially with no real review...

Mind Geurrilla, thank you for starting this thread. It's perfectly clear why you did, and the person who said that "no one knows why" can only speak for himself. I haven't yet watched the lecture, but it's on my things-to-do list (along with the Mark Elsdon lecture). I've seen from the reviews that Elsdon discusses equivoque. In fact, I think he's the only one with the equivoque tag on the Penguin site. Berglas is also known for his equivoque technique (eh-kwi-vo-kay tek-ni-kay), and I'm hoping he got into that in his lecture.

I'm an hour into the 3 hour 45 mins lecture. So far David has been reminiscing about his early career non-stop. No tricks but fascinating stories.

I bet he could talk for days about the things that have happened to him during his career. I know I for one would love to hear them.
By failing to prepare, we are preparing to fail.

I'm gonna be watching this in another hour. What a treat
I really like how Penguin Magic have been getting the downloads up so quickly. Much improved and they are always sitting there when I get home on a Monday evening. |

I suspect Penguin put up the download so quickly because this was a prior taping as opposed to a live interview. I still feel Penguin does an excellent job in most cases and I applaud them for thinking out of the box and taking risks even though the risks don't always work out. That's the only way to improve. They're certainly an innovative company. |

This was a brilliant interview with possibly the most interesting man in the world. The interview includes stories from his entire life which are incredible, discussion of some of his greatest effects and offers massive amounts of insight into what makes him him as well as his Martin Berglas getting involved for part of the interview.

Why do I feel perfectly comfortable if the secret of The Berglas Effect is never revealed? The Berglas Effect was laid out completely in the Britland book. It was laid out again in the Kaufman book. I prefer the Britland book. It just isn't as straightforward as most people would like. |
