Just picked up the hardbound volume 1. It appears to have a little for everyone here after reading just the first few pages. The front cover bears the quote from Stephen King: "The best graphic novel I've ever read".
From the wiki: "On July 17, 2002, something (referred to as a plague) simultaneously kills every living mammal possessing a Y chromosome — including embryos, fertilized eggs, and even sperm. The only exceptions appear to be a young amateur escape artist named Yorick Brown and his Capuchin monkey, Ampersand. Many women are killed from disasters caused by the men's deaths. Society is plunged into chaos as infrastructures collapse, and the surviving women everywhere try to cope with the loss of the men, and the belief that, barring a rapid, major scientific breakthrough or other extraordinary happening, humanity is doomed to extinction." As I said, seems to have a bit for everyone here which is kinda funny. The main character is an amateur magician and escape artist who owns a monkey. His mother is a Democrat member of the House of Representatives who is pro-life. His girlfriend is currently in Australia. And on page 17 it switches to some characters in the West Bank. (That's as far as I've gotten so far.) I picked it up after reading a later graphic novel by the same author, Brian K. Vaughan that was really amazing called Saga. |

I believe I saw an ad for it somewhere, but I have not read it.
Have you ever read any of Mark Millar's books? I mean, he has done an awful lot but in particular I was thinking of Superior, Super Crooks, The Secret Service, Saviour. It looks like The Secret Service is going to be one 'kick-ass' movie. Well, based on the commercials I have seen. I suppose they could be very deceiving.

I have heard the cops are arresting all 3ft Rastafarians for being Yardies.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

I checked out that web site. I saw "American Jesus Book One: Chosen" listed. I'm not sure about the publishing history, but I believe that story originally appeared as "Chosen". The American Jesus edition appears to be a toned down version of the original story done for an American audience. You all and your delicate sensibilities.
If you can find the original (I guess British) version of Chosen, I would recommend that you go with that. I'll add that I've yet to read Saviour, but I did read Nemesis (one title I forgot to list before) and quite enjoyed it.

Now that I've read a bit more, I'd say it's OK, not GREAT! (Although, maybe it gets better.)
If anyone is interested, I would definitely go with Saga first if you're interested in the guy. That one is just amazing! |

I'd agree with that review... pretty good. But I'd probably have liked to have seen a few things handled differently. Its been a while since I read it, but I don't remember the ending being particularly satisfying

I went with my wife, step-daughter and her husband. I'm the only one that really like it, the rest didn't just dislike it, they hated it! I think this review is pretty spot on. http://www.breitbart.com/big-hollywood/2......y-un-pc/ |
