(Forgive me if this has been posted before. I did a search but didn't find any reference.)
Liam Montier and Big Blind Media area t it again with another additions to their well-received "Sleights" series. They're already released The Elmsley Count Project, The Double Lift Project, and The Forces Project. Now it's time for The Controls Project to be released on February 18th. This might be my next excuse to support my local brick & mortar magic shop. I'm debating whether it will add anything to my existing reference library though seeing as I have R. Paul Wilson's Royal Road to Card Magic, Richard Kaufman's Basic Card Technique, and a few others. What do you all think? Here's the scoop from BBM's website: Being able to secretly control a spectator's chosen card to any position of the pack is an essential skill for EVERY magician. On 'The Controls Project' you'll learn 26 devastating and deceptive techniques, ranging from the simple to the sophisticated. These skills will leave you armed to covertly move playing cards to literally ANY position in the pack you desire. The included material will provide insight and fundamental lessons for everyone from beginners to working professionals alike. As with the other titles in our Sleights series, 'The Controls Project' features the acclaimed and concise teaching of Liam Montier, who covers not only the technical aspects of these deceptive moves, but also important theory on how to make your sleights truly invisible, how to practise, what to do in emergencies and much more. Grab a deck and let's learn how to CONTROL THOSE CARDS! I can say honestly almost anything Big Blind Media releases wether its new methods or just rehashing old ideas, they are always jam packed with awesome ideas. I own most of there other popular releases. I am a coin guy at heart, but can't resist the power of the BBM team on card manipulations. The Forces Project I played thru the first force taught on the DVD. And never made it passed that, why? That's how awesome the first and probably least difficult force is. My point is you won't just walk away with just one new technique, you'll end up having a full supply for years to come. Knowing that is worth the price itself...to me at least.
Side note: I kinda wish BBM would release a fresh coin manipulation DVD like their USWCT series. Or perhaps a multi effects DVD using everyday objects... i.e.(Moments/Something Out of the Ordinary).

This project earned a 5 out of 5 star rating.
Check out the full review at: www.mylovelyassistant.com/reviews/view/4692 In the meantime, here is a part of the full review: The Controls Project is a highly recommended Big Blind Media instructional DVD/download that teaches several ways to control a card, or several, to a specific location in the deck; usually the top, or the bottom, but it allows for placement of a card in other locations. The video is taught by Liam Montier and the video quality is excellent. The teaching is clear and easy to follow due to the verbal instruction and the close-up video when needed. This project a good example of how to teach tricks with cards. Beginners will learn and be able to implement the moves taught on this DVD/download and intermediate card handlers will also enjoy watching and learning...

I loved this project. The selection of controls, the tricks and the teaching is all amazing. I give the content 5 out of 5 stars.
But... Why do Big Blind Media keep using these super hot girls who are wearing tons of make up and looks way to dressed and out of place and super uncomfortable and uninterested as spectators? It is sooooooo awkward to watch. |

DVD Key points: Being able to secretly control a spectator's chosen card to any position of the pack is an essential skill for EVERY card magician. How are the production values: Big Blind Media is wonderful, great shots, well edited and laid out with navigatable menus. Is it well taught: This is my third BBM with Liam as the teacher, I would highly recommend these DVDs for anyone who wants to further their skill in card magic My thoughts (what I personally liked/disliked): I liked that this isn't "JUST" sleights, but you will learn some magic tricks on here as well. I also liked that this is comprehensive enough that even skilled magicians can come back to this again and again for a refresher. Overall score: 9/10 + If you want to see my full review with even more of my opinions and ideas you can visit this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8qYwmm2WwU |
