Ok, I don't know which I should get first to learn some cigarette tricks. Either the Tom Mullica videos or the book by Keith Klark called Cigarette Manipulation. Or if you have any other ideas where to start from please let me know. Thanks.

Both are great resources for learning cigarette magic. I would think about how much of your time you are willing to invest to learn cigarette magic and a time when the plague is almost more welcome than smoking items. Good luck

Unless extremely dedicated, many modern readers will find learning sleights and routines from Clark's book to be a daunting experience.
You will need to read the content very carefully. As always, GSmithson |

IMHO cigarette magic, in the USA, is something that may be near impossible to use in most venues.

I would tend to agree that cigarette magic is "out of vogue" nowadays.
On the other hand... a performer who could come up with a good solid comedy routine "explaining" how the tobacco companies think (which is rife with darkly comic possibilities) and then illustrated it with a few choice cigarette moves might find themselves with a real winner. Just a thought.

I don't think that a typical cigarette manipulation act would play well today. Certainly not in most U.S. venues.
BUT.... Some creative person could put together an amusing and entertaining act about how hard it is to quit smoking. Part of the idea would be along the lines of "I throw them away and they keep on coming back." Sid

That is the basis of Jim Cellini's excellent cigarette routine. |

Hello Supermagic:
What kind of venues will you be playing? Unless you're going to be performing outside, I think you're going to find few places to perform. Concerning the Keith Clark book: It was written about 50 years ago, when there were supper clubs and stages. A lot of the "Celebrated Cigarettes" act that Clark did depended on the audience being pretty-much in front of you...and a bit away. Those conditions hardly exist today. Anyway, some things to thinks about before making the cigarette plunge. Ron |

It wouldn't be hard to come up with a "don't start smoking" theme....and you could use wooden cigarettes or cigars from somewhere like:

I would suggest looking at the manipulation of cigarette sized objects in general. The practice of smoking is dying out (I gave up last Dec).
