Clicked on the ad here that popped up for this. Looks like there is a bending and straightening version of the key.

And it says that it is completely self working…does that mean it doesn't need the prep that other props like this typically require? Be curious to hear any thoughts on this. Especially since it seems that the bending paper clip Taiwan Ben released wasn't that well received. If this has the same issues then it may not be that practical. We shall see... |

The best key bending routines are done with borrowed keys or keys that can be left with the participant. According to the description of this version, a special key is used- exactly what a skeptical viewer would suspect.

That said, however, the prepared key probably could be effectively included as part of a larger sequencer in which borrowed/unprepared keys are also bent and returned. But that, of course, requires the performer to be skilled in the foundational techniques of actual key-bending.
I wouldn't call this a viable substitute, though, for those techniques. |
