Aronson's heavily gaffed masterpiece was published decades ago in Card Ideas along with two other thought card across effects that don't require gaffs, simply called Odd-Backed Thought Card Across #1 and #2.
I have RSP but have been playing with these un-gaffed precursors in my quest to learn all of the effects in Aronson's five hardbound books. I must admit that even though Simon suggests that these effects are works-in-progress, I really have found that the completely impromptu #1 to be quite clever and readily adapted to more than the six cards per packet as described in the original. Indeed, I have even contemplated working with part of my memorized stack in each packet to ease the on-the-feet memorization part (even though this encroaches on the FASDIU nature of the original). Does anyone, Aronson devotees or otherwise, do these effects, either as written or otherwise refined? RSP is a stunner, but if one doesn't want to ring in the gaffed and stacked decks it is nice to have an almost as strong non-gaffed alternative. Looking forward to comments, Les |
