Hocus Pocus is very excited to announce that we are now carrying Daniel Ka's Linking Ropes.
Daniel Ka has produced one the highest quality Linking Ropes we have ever seen. The gimmick is perfectly hidden, and made using the best material available. Daniel came into our shop yesterday as he was visiting us from Spain so we had the pleasure of filming his routine and it is available on our website with some more information about his Linking Ropes. http://www.hocus-pocus.com/magicshop/?p=29184 Fair warning he only had a limited supply on hand. We bought all he had with him, so once we are out there will be a wait until he is back in Spain to ship more to us. Cole |

Hi,
the link doesn't work... Does that mean that the effect is already sold out? Cheers Nikki

Hello Nikki,
We made the product invisible temporarily as we have sold out of them. Daniel is putting more together for us and as soon as they have been shipped to us we will reactivate the product on our website. In the meantime if you want to view the video performance of these ropes here is the link: https://youtu.be/hz5SydBmMdg I will post again here as soon as we reactive the link. Thank you, Cole |

Thanks Cole for the fast reply. Are you going to sell this item in Europe, too?
Most of the time it's easier to buy it from a European shop (because I live in Europe 😊 ) Cheers Nikki

Glad I got one of the first batch.
I used to perform a similar version of this decades ago but have long ago lost my ropes and completely forgotten all of the handling. I first saw Mark Wilson perform a version on TV and instantly fell in love with it. Daniel has made some improvements to the handling, primarily being able to show the three ropes untied and separate as simply 3 lengths of rope in the beginning and then tying them into loops in front of the spectators. Nothing revolutionary here but simply an amazing and well thought out handling overall. Sure beats me having to spend hours and hours trying to re-engineer the routine from memory. The ropes included are extremely nice and much, much better than the homemade set I used to use. Of course the rope available back then was much more limited than today. I would have preferred a DVD be included but there is a link to online video instructions. This is one of those things I may never actually perform for anyone but myself. It has just always been a personal favorite effect of mine. I was happy to see Daniel resurrect it and bring it to market. I really got it mainly as a present to myself. |

Can anyone let me know what the skill / difficulty level is with this?
I have a magician friend who performs the linking rings as his party piece this may just give him some competition! Thank in advance.
We are inclined to believe those whom we do not know because they have not yet deceived us...

There is nothing terribly difficult to the routine. If you do any kind of rope magic now, for instance Richard Sanders Fiber Optics, then you would be far ahead of the game.
The hardest part is probably remembering the order of the handling. Well, actually, the hardest part may be devising an entertaining routine. This trick is most often performed to music and there is a good reason for that. It can be difficult to come up with an entertaining patter and presentation. But then again, perhaps no harder than a regular linking rings routine. But to answer your question, it is similar in many ways to the rings so if you have those mastered, then adapting to the soft rope shouldn't be too hard. |

I also liked this routine very much. The problem is I am kind of gun shy on ordering right away, because I had a Rope routine years ago that worked under the same concept, but I rarely used it, unless I knew I had enough distance between myself and the spectators. Mostly because of the quality of my Rope, and abnormalities where they connect. And honestly the area around the gimmick got more shoddy after a while each time I used it. But I will admit, it was a low end quality rope I had at the time.
My question is this if anyone knows, 1) What is the Quality of this Rope you receive? 2) Would distance need to be more than a couple of feet for the layman not to see anything? 3) Does the rope seem like it will last many performances? Thank You... |

Ropes are pretty thick and of very high quality.
You should probably be a few feet away, not intended to be a close up effect. Haven't actually put them to the test but I believe they should last a long time. The trick is not cheap but I feel it is a good value and worth it if you desire to perform this routine. |

These are back in stock.
To address your questions above I agree with videoman. These are very high quality thick ropes. The gimmicks are very accurate. I know what you mean about other versions not connecting quite right. The elements of these ropes that Daniel has sourced are very accurate and great quality. You should be a few feet away at least. I spoke with Daniel about his experience with longevity and he says he get tons of use of of his and hasn't had an issue with them wearing. You should be able to get many many performances before there is any noticeable wear (can't give you a number because it varies by person and how rough they are). If you have any questions please let me know here or call me directly at the number below. Thank you, Cole |

Hello everyone.
First of all, thank you very much for all your words about my Linking Ropes routine. I´m glad you like it. I´ll try to answer all your questions about this product. -Background. The original Linking Ropes effect where three knotted loops of rope link and unlink is a classic in magic and its creator is unknown. E.J. Moore was the first using magnets in this effect. And the Hungarian magician Peter Gloviczki added a better end to the effect. In his routine two of the loops become one large loop linked to the other and finally the loops join together to form a big loop. Finally the knots dissolve away leaving one long length of ordinary rope. What I did not like of all the versions I know of this trick was to start with three knotted loops, instead of starting with three pieces of rope, because this is not something normal for the audience, so I studied the way to start with three pieces of rope and create the knotted loops in front of the audience. This makes it a more believable routine. Also I changed the handle and some of the techniques to create a cleaner routine. The Spanish magician Miguel Gavilán helped me with one of the techniques. And finally I wanted to have an exquisite manufacturing to have a quality product. So the ropes are manufactured by Paco Herrero, Spanish magician who recovered the classic effect of Linking Ropes and introduced it in Spain a few years ago. He makes a linking ropes set with the highest quality and using the best magnets from Germany. So "Luxury Linking Ropes", as I call it, is an evolution of the classic Linking Ropes for its handling, the techniques used, the clean and clear start and the surprising ending and the excellent manufacturing quality. -Quality. The quality of the ropes is amazing. We use the best magnets on the market (German neodymium magnets), a great quality rope (Spanish rope) and a fantastic manufacture process to assure a perfect finish. The magnets are perfectly hidden, connecting always perfectly. -Longevity. I used the same set for a full year performing every night on a cruise ship and the set is still ok to perform, I just changed it because I started recording the effect for selling it and I wanted to use a new set of ropes for the videos. But I still use the first one for rehearsals. So you can use the same set for hundreds and hundreds of shows. You will note that the ropes are a little bit dirty after many performances, because it´s a white rope and you touch it. But the audience won´t note it, they always see a regular rope. And also the magnets will be even more unnoticeable when the ropes are dirtier. -Distance between you and the audience. I have performed this routine on big stages and also on small venues, with the audience very close, and it also works. You don´t need to be far away. They won't see the magnets. The only problem you can have if you perform too close to the audience is the sound of the magnets when you open and close them. So if you perform very close to the audience, you should use music with a good volumen or, if you do it talking, you have to study a script where you cover those sounds with your voice. But this problem will only happen if you perform very very close to the audience. I have performed it many many times on big and small venues (very close to the audience) and it has always worked very well. -Difficulty. This is not a very difficult routine, but you need to practice and rehearse well to be confident with the techniques. The most difficult part is the beginning, doing the false knots, but nothing terribly difficult. The rest of the routine, with some practice is easy to do. When you buy it, you have access to two different routines. My full routine with performance and explanation videos. And an easier one, starting with the knotted loops, also with performance and explanation videos. And of course, if you buy it and you have any problem with some technique, contact me and I will be pleased to help you. I hope this information help you. If you have more questions, ask me and I will answer you asap. I´m sorry for my english, I hope you understand everything. Thank you. All the best: Daniel Ka

Beautiful routine, a real worker, and obviously high quality props! If I was still doing lots of shows I would buy these in a heart beat. The routine itsself is worth the price. Congratulations to Dany and HP for sharing this wonderful effect with the magic community. Great job, guys!

Having worked with Daniel many times and watching him perform his linking ropes every night, I can tell you this is a beautiful trick that audiences simply find enthralling. It's a very clean version of the linking ropes and the fact you can start with three untied lengths of rope gets rid of the usual messy start associated with other versions of the linking ropes.

They finally arrived! After waiting over three months! I guess it was worth the wait. Daniel's performance is very good, but I was really pleasantly surprised they also included a performance by Paco Herrero. Paco's performance is more to my liking.
Very nice rope routine. KJ |
