It has been a long time since I used this. How should this be mounted in a solid (square circle). production device so it will 'casscade' without falling out? Thanks!

For the old Hanson Rice Bowls, we would wedge the "hat" coil "in" with a couple match sticks. (They fell away at the end of the coil.) I never had the "new" silver mylar coils, so I don't know what their diameter is/was. I "got hundreds" of the old aluminum "radar chaff" coils when they became obsolete back in the '50s. They were only about 3" in diameter, but were very flashy.

I have only seen Mylar coils used in the hand or in the hand under a cloth. Do to the coil they will not shoot out over the top of a box like a square circle, to my knowledge. Usually, the shooting out is done with ordinary ribbon, zigzag folded in the box or tube.

Thank you, looks like it's best to stick with hand productions, still pretty flashy.

Use a long string of 8-10mm plastic beads instead. They look flashy and will give you the cascade effect you're looking for. Re-reading your post, however, it sounds like you need to turn the production device upside down first. I don't have an immediate solution for that and would have to know more about your prop.

Yes, what is a solid square circle, I have no idea, I thought you meant the Square Circle production prop. The only other square to circle I know of is he newspaper hole version and the metal bands that change from a circle to square.
stevieDee is correct, the plastic hanging drapery beads make a nice visual production, with lots of noise and the color changes can be exciting. The late great Bruce Postage wrote a book on this production material years ago. |
