I was wondering if anyone knows of a mental effect that is based on the board game "Clue". I think it would make a very fun presentation and am thinking about developing a routine. But I would like to know if one already exists, so I can study it.

Yes, in the book "THAVANT" by Max Maven, there is an effect with those cards.
Then you'll rise right before my eyes, on wings that fill the sky, like a phoenix rising!

One of the other members of Theatre Macabre does a complete routine based on Clue. As far as I know, it is completely original and has not been published. I will point him here but won't reveal more w/out his permission.

Wasn't a movie based on that game?

Yes, a movie was made based on the game, and it is very funny. You should watch it.

Thanks for the replies. Is Maven's book THAVANT readily available?

Here are two more sources:

Dan Harlan's "Games People Play" DVD has a prediction effect using these.

Also, you can find another prediction effect with the clue cards in the new hardbound copy of "Syzygy" magazine. I'm sure at least one of these routines will appeal to you.

Cheers,

There are also lots of handlings for the "murder mystery" plot in adapted form. For example, one spectator chooses another to be the killer and gives the killer one of sevearal available weapons to hide on his or her person.

You identify the killer in the audience and name the weapon used.

Try Bob Cassidy's art of mentalism book.
