I just bought Dean Dill's Chop Cup. Looks like the Don Alan Cup that he used on the Tonight Show(not sure if it the exact one). Dean was a friend and I just wanted to have something he may have performed with. This will go next to the Box he gave me years ago. I really miss him.
God's grace rocks! It makes a good cups and balls routine look pretty boring in comparison.

That's wonderful padre rich. I'm assuming you found it on Hocus Pocus's sale of Dean's estate?
I think it's a difficult thing to do...buying the things that someone accumulated over his or her lifetime. It somehow seems like the transaction could belittle or trivialize the person's legacy. Yet in this case...and probably in the case of most deceased magicians...I believe nothing could be further from the truth. By buying the items of someone we admire in the magic community, we are supporting the estate of that person (which in most cases is a good thing), and helping to keep the person's memory alive. And his or her magic legacy. In your case, as a friend of Dean, you are buying something priceless...
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

Great purchase Padre Rich. It's nice when you have a memory of a friend.

Regretfully, I never had the pleasure of meeting Dean Dill, but I can say this: The Man he was and the Performer he was, touched me. I, like many others, was profoundly saddened when I heard the news of his passing.
Dean was SPECIAL. Humility and raw talent are a rare and refreshing combination. Padre Rich: I know you will cherish Dean's Chop Cup. His contributions to the Art of Magic have been both substantial and significant. Rest in peace Dean Dill. |

I got a couple of sets of cups that belonged to Dean. I haven't posted them on the museum site yet. I had the honor and pleasure of meeting him at a couple of conventions in Vegas and at the IBM convention in San Diego.
He was a good man.

Yes he was. The only thing that ever impressed me more than his talent was his faith.

I purchased an explosion set and Dean's Triangle directly from Dean. Two of my most prized possessions. He was a class act all around.
