Hey all,
I'm not sure if this is the correct forum to post this in, in which case the Mods can move it and I apologize. I just feel this is the area which the subject is closest to and where I'll get the most response. I'm after books or any other sources on reading peoples body language. There seems to be a lot of books on the subject on amazon; however, there seems to be hundreds, and I have no idea which to go for. Any recommendations? Thanks, Simon |

I don’t know if this will help, but maybe you could find useful Paul Ekman’s Books about facial expressions:

Ekman also produces two fine CDROMs, which are useful for getting to know his basic seven universal codes. Concentrates on body language (expressions) microdynamics - often it's all you're going to get.
Having read all the above books I'd add 'Body Language' by Allan Pease and Lillian Glass' 'I know what your thinking' . |

Try psychology books. Used book store have them cheap. Will teach you all you need to know, and not try to selling you anything.

Simon are you interested in really learning body language so you can apply it in the course of magic or mentalism perhaps? There's no harm especially if you're into that sort of NLP, suggestion kind of stuff.
If not do your standard magic, act a bit and say I knew it from your body language |

Wonder words has some great work on body language and reading non-verbal cues. Quite an investment though if that is all you are after. Also check out Commercial Cold Reading by Richard Webster.

The grandfather of all books on the subject is called "Kinesics in Context" by a man named Birdwhistle (really!). It points out that a body motion in itself doesn't say a thing and cannot be taken out of the context of all the motions of the person. To do so, as some of the simplistic books imply, can result in misinterpretation.
On the other hand, certain eye motions can give you a great deal more information, can quickly be parsed for accuracy. I would suggest the book Instant Rapport by Michael Brooks which includes a lot of other information. |

Thanks guys for all your help. Yes Psychic I am interested in really learning body language - I've read a few NLP books and as some of you say there are sections in there about body language, but I was after a more complete guide.
I'll enjoy checking some of your references out, Thanks a lot, Simon. |
