In the video, "The Mehdi Talbi Cabaret Show",there is a trick called "The Fire Bomb". The effect is an explosion on the stage. It needs flash paper and powder. Does someone know what kind of the powder he uses?

It is flash powder used in that video. You only need a very small amount.
Its a very strange video, loads of great material performed badly and explained really badly, but the effects explained make it worth buying... just. A similar effect where you have sparks falling to the floor can be achieved by using sparkle additive instead of flash powder. Try both and see which effect you prefer. And I guess I should say before anyone else does, be very careful. |

I buy the flash powder and I used it a lot.
But it didin't have an explosion. It just has sparkle. The way that I used is the same as the video Where is the problem? |

I have the video. I believe it is XXXX gun powder, used for mussel loaders rifles.
There is some questions on the tape, as he says one thing and then pours out a white/yellow powder that should be black. The white/yellow powder they sale as "Hell's Fire" and "Dragon Fire" at many magic shops. It is used for producting a stream of fire from a candle. The name is "Lycopodium Powder". I decided it is just to dangerous to mess with. |

I agree, using gunpowder is very dangerous, but dragon's breath... hells fire ... dragon fire.. lycopodium powder is really pretty safe. If you pour a pile of this stuff on the table and try to burn it you will find that it will not burn!!! It only burns when atomized in the air and is in contact with an open flame source. One of my humorous things to do is light a fart with this stuff. There is nothing funnyier than a grown 35yr old man bending over with a lighter at his butt and seeing a 3 foot flame fly out. IMHO

Where can I¡@buy the lycopodium powder ?
I bought the volcanic match, but the powder is used up. Where can I buy it to refill? |

I have accidentally pointed the flame to my hands one time. I only burned the hair on my fingers.
Since the caloric content of the atomized lycopodium is so low, the flame doesn't produce enough energy to burn your hands or harm the skin. This is similar to the flash paper ignition. If you compare how much nitro-cellulose or lycopodium powder you are burning (in mols) with the amount of fuel burned in a candle, it is easy to see why it is considered harmless. |
