Not for me.
The universe is there for our exploration. Fine. I admire folks who seek adventure and don't care if they die in the process. Good on them. But as Earthlings, we and all our inhabitants of the planet require certain things for life including but not limited to oxygen, water and certain temperature limits. We know we can't survive outside of the parameters our Earth's atmosphere affords us. Why would an Earthling want to live in a forced environment that probably won't be sustainable for the long term? I'm not that guy, whether for the interest of science or my own mortality, it doesn't matter to me. It's great to explore and find things, but where is it written we must colonize the universe for the benefit of Earthlings? Chalk me up for exploration but not colonization.
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

Fascinating article. There is another cause of death on mars; Murder. My second to next thriller is called The First Murder on Mars, and should hit the shelves late next year.
Despite the dangers, I would go to Mars in a heartbeat.

Interesting movie in this regard: "Interstellar".Colonizing other planets may be a necessity rather than a choice. Lynn

Terrorism.. By the Martian liberation organisation.
You just can't do land grabs and build walls without retribution.

Our little space ships begin landing on Mars.
The Martians notice that their watches begin to stop, and become magnetic. The Martians attack us in self defense, but to no avail. Guns, tanks, bombs.... They are like toys against the humans! Germs eventually get us
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

On the chapter on Burma Shave, they brought up the famous Burma Shave Signs that were popular in the 40s and 50s. One set read; "Send in labels" "from 10,000 jars" "win a free" "trip to Mars." One customer said he was almost there and would be coming in soon to collect his prize. They changed the signs to read; "If a trip" "to Mars you'd earn" "remember friend" "there's no return."
