Ok, apparently I CAN see the future... A week or so ago I was thinking how great it would be if Jack Kent Tillar were to do a Penguin Live Lecture... lo and behold, today I find that he has one coming up on July 19th! Excited to see what he teaches. He is a REALLY clever mentalist but I've never seen him perform live.

I am about 45 minutes in and I have to say this is the worst Penguin lecture I have seen. The Castle act in my opinion was weak and extremely transparent. Extremely disappointed with my purchase and feel like I absolutely did not get my monies worth and didn't learn anything new or creative. I would love to hear others thoughts.

Really?! Wow, that's too bad... I was out of town and haven't seen it yet. I have no clue whether or not JKT is a good lecturer or not, I just love his books and concepts.

This lecture is full of wonderful and amazing principals and thinking and I found the castle routine to be a solid and well scripted routine. It is, however, hard to watch, Mr. Tillar goes in circles and has disjointed thoughts at times, he has material that he just talks about that is really solid stuff such as his imp set up, however he didn't have one made up to show. We are at the mercy of his descriptions which are extremely hard to follow. I personally give him the benefit of the doubt because this is solid material I can use. It's great stuff, it's just a bit like watching ones grandfather ramble about something...I grew up in Florida so this is quite familiar to me, one just has to be observant and patient.

I knew of JKT from the past but for some reason never really explored his work. I am now reading his book and finding his material pure gold. What is really interesting is that he was doing so-called 'propless' stuff decades ago, before the current generation of newcomers was even born.

You have to be a little patient...but JKT's work is superb, and I have all of his books - and should be studied and enjoyed...i'm half way through the penguin lecture, and sure - he goes off on a tangent from time to time, and maybe he assumes you have already read his material - but dan does a sterling job stepping in and making sure its all explained thoroughly...

Iain, I completely agree, Dan did a great job. For me personally, I could just watch him talk about his experiences in life, another "character". These people have so much to share, and we must remember, he's no spring chicken either.
By failing to prepare, we are preparing to fail.
