This magician has a "Donate" button on his home page. When I clicked it, it simply asks for donations; no charity or cause is given. I can't figure out why I would want to donate to a magician! Is the economy so bad we have to go from busking to outright begging?

Bizarre. Wonder if the web designer simply attached some code by accident.

Maybe it is his way of taking deposits for a show. A very odd way, but that would make it non-refundable.
On another part of the website, it explains that they are world champion deaf magicians, so maybe they are somehow registered as a charity. (Maybe Sam Sandler could speak into that aspect, because he's also a deaf magician.) Although it says on the website that Magic Morgan is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Magicians, it doesn't really talk about gospel shows or church shows on his site, so I don't see anything on the site explaining that he runs a Christian ministry that would ask for donations. I know a different gospel magician who requests donations to his family's ministry / tours / shows at churches (besides what he charges the churches), but that is slightly different. In that case, it is very clear that he is running a ministry, etc. - Donald

It's a protection racket. Donate or he puts a spell on you.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

I don't know that being deaf OR being Christian would be reason enough to solicit donations unless a cause is attached to it, and preferably a charitable one. I am bald; donation, please!
(BTW, I LOVE being bald. It allows me to make so many jokes and sarcastic remarks.) |

I recall such a site years ago.
He said that he was giving effects away (somewhat true) and wanted donations to help defray expense and fuel his creativity. a neighbor wants to move to Colorado so that she can smoke pot. She has created a website to solicite donations to help her with transportation. This appears to be common -- people asking for donations for anything.
