This post spans a few forums, but I decided this might be the most relevant one.
Math Horizons is a monthly publication put out by the Mathematical Association of America (www.maa.org). The February, 2004, issue is on "Math Magic" and contains several articles that might be of interest to people here. Some, but not all, are card related. The index includes: - Top 5 Reasons to Like Mathematical Card Tricks - A Conversation with Jason Latimer, Math Major and Magician - Some Magic Squares of Distinction - A Book of Corollaries, Variations on a Theme (an article relating to a trick by Alex Elmsley, magician and computer scientist). - Unshuffling for the Imperfect Magician (this article discusses the left and right perfect unshuffles). It also contains book reviews of these 2 books: - Magic Tricks, Card Shuffling, and Dynamic Computer Memories by S. Brent Morris (Published by the MAA, see website above if you want to buy a copy.) This is a treatise on the perfect shuffle, its applications, history, and includes some tricks and applications of its underlying theory. - The Mathematics of Juggling by Burkard Polster The books are readily available, but I don't know how you can get a copy of the magazine unless you subscribe or order a back issue from the MAA.
Make America Great Again! - Trump in 2020 ... "We're a capitalistic society. I go into business, I don't make it, I go bankrupt. They're not going to bail me out. I've been on welfare and food stamps. Did anyone help me? No." - Craig T. Nelson, actor.
