On the local scene a number of home owners are petitioning against new Cel Towers and want old ones removed because they are "unsightly" and "not in our neighborhood." themes.
Beyond not understanding how Cell Phones work, they are suing cellphone calling campaigns and Twitter/Texting surveys as the communications method of choice. On a TV interview, one "leader of the movement" suggested that in "better neighborhoods those things could be underground." Another offered that, "with satellites up there out of sight we don't need those towers any more." Maybe those phones do effect brain cells.

In Trussville, Alabama, about 5 miles from where I lived down there, they have a cell tower on top of a mountain ridge that is disguised as a pine tree. Ridiculous thing is, it is quite a bit taller than the entire tree line surrounding it.

My prototype for a non tower cell phone is 2 Vienna Sausage cans connected by some invisible thread. I figure most magicians will buy anything marketed today with enough hype behind it. I just need a teaser vid with zero live performances, loud but catchy background music, a ton of edited cut-scenes and a quote from either David Blain or Criss Angel. Allll Aboarrrrd, the hype train is leaving the station

In Southern California they tend to disguise them as palm trees.

At one location, you can look across the water and see a tree line with one singular tree high above all the surrounding trees. Funny thing was that we were told that if you watch GOT, you will see that same tree in multiple scenes in the movie that are supposedly different locations. And now I find out that it's possibly a cell tower disguised as a tree!!! P.S. The tower that the picture is taken from within is really there but the tower and bridge crossing the water are digital. |

There was quite a do here a few years ago when a cell tower was built in a very visible area, and within sight of a high school. People were saying it looked quite... um... what can I say here without being deleted... okay, the heck with it, here's a link: https://www.google.com/search?q=phallic+......hhAPM%3A
The newspapers had a... blast with it. Honestly, from a design point of view, what is so difficult about using a little creativity when designing these towers? Why do so many of them have to look like crap?

One near us is themed as a flag pole.

I wonder how those fake trees and cacti will look in a few years... Probably worse than a cell phone tower if they're not maintained.
