Hello guys!
Sometimes I brainstorm and as a result produce some good (or not at all) routines and methods. But I'm not sure if something similar was created earlier. Is there any way to check if the method I came up with already exists? Thank you Pavel |

Eh..... Yes? But mentalism isn't like Google, you have to study the art and study the routines that you believe is similar to what you have created, e.g. if you came up with something that has to do with bill*t swi*ch*s study the classics, if you came up with a spectator as mind reader routine, study the masters in that specific field, then have your routines reviewed by professionals that can help you find the correct credits and/or tell you that it has already been done.
Effect: The mentalist memorize any kind of information in less than a second. $5 |

Thank you, Johannes
I understand that there is no any great database with all possible effects and variations. "... then have your routines reviewed by professionals..." is exactly what I want to know. Is there someone who specialize on such reviewing? Pavel |

I would be happy to help in researching your idea. If you have a video or written description to PM me, that would help.
Additionally, you could start at Denis Behr's great website and index of magic effects. Search for your genre and premise and you can look at those who have tackled similar ideas. |

I understand that there is no any great database with all possible effects and variations. You're on the Magic Café forum, bro. I can only name maybe one or two mentalists that don't have accounts here. Obviously if you're brand new to mentalism, don't be making posts and sending pms out every time you think of something cool you want to do, and especially don't ask for the method to someone else's effect, but there are a bunch of legends here that make half of their living doing consulting. As long as you show that you've put in your half of the work, there are plenty of people here that would love to help you. Get to 50 posts and the Inner Thoughts forum will be a major asset to what you're wanting to do. Don't worry, you're not the first mentalist to worry about stealing someone's idea nor does anybody expect you to be a human library of mental effects yet. |

I don't think that IT will help you that much in this matter, the best option is to hope to have your worked reviewed by people who've been in this branch for a long time, those who we call living legends.

But there are plenty of working professionals that you can contact. I had my routine reviewed by performers and penguin magic. Penguin Magic have seen a lot of methods and will surely spot something that look familiar to their products. Effect: The mentalist memorize any kind of information in less than a second. $5 |
