Gerry's focus on birthday shows and festival shows got me thinking about Jim Snack's ideas on the different shows / pricing levels.
Jim has shared his take on the topic of price ranges for different types of shows in some of his info products, but also in posts like this one: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......art=30#1 - Donald P.S. As well as low fees, Gerry also touched on the topic of his highest fee, which he once got from a festival customer. That post from Jim Snack is actually on a thread about that topic. Here's a link to the start of that thread: Magic Café thread titled... Your most expensive show ever...

I think the most expensive show you ever have done is about as relevant as the least expensive show you have ever done.
Pros worry about average over the year at the end of the year.

She said that she expected prices would vary and that it was not an issue - she assumed some companies might send more business to a performer and as such they might at times work out more favorable rates because of the volume or relationship. But she said that she assumed that a performer such as me might offer different pricing to clients and that in the end they didn't care as long as the performer did good work and clients were happy. I will always try to work with a client (especially a large hotel or DMC) if they have a budget and if they are willing to come close to my asking price. That happened last week with a high end resort I've played many times that asked me if their was squiggle room. It was a before Christmas weekend (which is premium) but I shaved a little off and they got the deal. We also have to keep in mind that the bookers pad our pricing a bit for their own small margin. To me it is about the long term relationship.

Couldn't agree more with your last sentence.

No sir. I just thought that last sentence was particularly poignant. Made an extraordinary point that way to often goes overlooked.
