THE EXIT DOOR by J C Sum is a free illusion plan-- if you want go here
http://illusionbooks.com/free-illusion-plan/ and give your info. The illusion is set catercorner to the aud.--- so what I don't get (I am sure I am missing something) is at the end of the illusion 1/2 of the aud is looking at a solid door with the end sign on it (how is this a vanish to that half of the aud-- the person could be behind the door). what am I missing??? |

Good point. In the drawing the door frame is at a 45 degree angle. I think you could decrease the angle and open the door further. This would turn the frame more sideways so more of the audience stage right could see both sides. Does that make sense?

I like the simplicity of the illusion, and that fact that it does not take a big crew to run it. I do agree about the angle. You could run it flat, but without seeing both sides, it would not be an illusion, just a door to back stage. 45 degrees is to severe an angle. Depending on the stage I am thinking 30 degrees is better and will still allow most of the audience a view.
Magic is like Science,
Both are fun if you do it right! |
