I've always wanted to do this! There on the beach or in a beautiful alpine valley. Looks great!
Have you gone?

As an ex sky diver the only problem I have with this is there is no back-up plan. If you have a malfunction at altitude (anything with a chute and lines can malfunction) there is no Plan B. Even if you had a parachute you are far to low for it to deploy properly. Looks like fun but I'd stick to jumping out of airplanes. It's safer.

Utah has a well know paragliding spot in the south end of SL valley that I drive by everyday on the way to work and again on the way home. As I drove by this evening, I counted between 15 and 20 para gliders and hang gliders in the air. Both me and my wife gave it a try with an instructor doing a tandem glide although my wife's instructor gave her a much more thrilling ride than I got! She got to do a complete 360 loop.
However, I'll happily admit, the Torrey Pines site has a much nicer view! (This is not us, it's just a video I found on youtube that is similar to our experience.) |
