Something quite neat I came across...
Just trying to choose some background music to score sections of my Blade Runner / PKD performance coming up.... and came across this article: http://www.buzzfeed.com/johnnyr6/10-thin......bEkl66lX I find it amazing because I always loved this song.... it just was wild for its day -finding out the background and the specialized tech, mental health aspects, and innovation for making it happen just made me respect New Order even more. The mental health aspects, are that the lyrics are all regarding Ian and depression and his suicide..... which when you realize that and listen to the song it takes on a totally different meaning and feel. To me, its an example we in the field should try to follow - real human issues, blending of art, new tech, and performance staging and KABOOM. (of course if you hate NO and this Song, oh well.).... (Even if I can't get the rights to play it in a performance (which I will be checking out ASAP) - I think I am going to do a presentation ON it for our mental health and humanities groups here at the University and beyond....) Oh, it belongs here in this forum as its the area that can really appreciate this the most IMHO

When I listen to Blue Monday and close my eyes strobe light visions of combat boots, denim, leather with spikes, the smell of hair gel and cigarette smoke flood my mind - it's such a powerful song that for a few minutes I feel young again - thanks

Thank you for the information on this song, I had never heard of it or the band before. I was stationed in Asia for most of the 80's... Tony |

I enjoyed the lyrics more than the music.
How do I feel? Ask me again after the elections. Considering the condition and circumstances of the world order, not very hopeful at the moment. Kotah |

I totally love New Order, and before them, Joy Division.
Joy Division was one one of my favourite band as a teenager, and used to read a lot about them. The production techniques used by their engineer, Martin Hannet were absolutely unique and never employed before. it was a genius. |
