Can anyone point me towards information on the title of World's Greatest Magician? I'm doing a bit of research on Thurston and I am aware that there was a title of "World's Greatest Magician." If I'm not mistaken Thurston inherited it from Keller when he bought Kellar's show. How did Kellar get the title though, and how was that title determined? Was it some sort of combination of ticket sales and audience size? Alternatively, am I just remembering things wrong and it was all just stuff they made up and no one really disputes?

Talk to George Schindler. I'm sure he'll straighten you out as to who the "World's Greatest Magician" is!

It wasn't "World's Greatest Magician" it was the mantle of the "Master Magician" .

Yes did and they stole tricks form each other and copied others. I have written proof of this in letter to Horace Marshall trying to copy Blackstone's items.

I'm pretty sure there have been and continue to be several "World's Greatest" everything. All you need is a piece of cardboard and some paint.
