I think it is a very nice step forward. A brilliant new use for a new method.
I thought of a nice easy way to do the clean-up after getting the peek, so that everything would be immediately examinable. You probably thought of it already, but I will type and email it to you when I have a chance. |

Due to some problems I am currently experiencing, wdnanzhishou@gmail.com will no longer be my PayPal account. If you wish to purchase it directly from me via PayPal, you may use zeejyan@gmail.com
You should always email me first before the purchase though. However, you can go onto Sellfy ( https://sellfy.com/p/nvX7/ ) or you can go onto Deception As Reality ( http://www.deceptionasreality.com/zee-j-yan ) to get it too. It will be on Lybrary soon too Zee |

I'm not a mentalist. But I am willing to give this a try.

I received a review copy of Greetings by Zee Yan
http://www.lybrary.com/greetings-p-791576.html (apprx 300 pages $50) Overall: This is a nicely produced ebook of close up mentalism effects used with everyday objects. It is written by a high school student so you aren't getting years of professional experience here. However it is well written, contains some solid effects, and at 300 pages contains a lot of content. The asking price seems pretty steep to me still. The book is broken up into several sections: Smart This section contains several effects for Iphones. There are a lot of effects coming out that rely on quirks/features of iphones (Peter Turner, Michael Murray, Mike Phillips). While I like and use some of them - I don't like being at the mercy of Apple upgrades and am not as quick as younger people when it comes grabbing an unfamiliar phone and doing the dirty work. There are six effects taught in this section plus some bonus material. I won't be adding any of these to the Iphone effects I already use but some may find some usable stuff here. 3rd This section teaches casual 5 close up effects. Of note is Bunny Star which is very good but for owners of Elliott Bresler's Swithcraft, you will already have this. The other notable item is the $1000 Peek Wallet. This is a very clever way to peek a business card with an un-gimmicked wallet. This is my favorite item in the book. Orchestra This section has 4 effects making use of the Dunninger Ploy and some variations. Zee admits he doesn't do much stagework so I don't know how well tested this material is. There are some effects that got me thinking though. Secret Section This section contains his thoughts on some well-known routines (e.g. Name and Place) adapted for his favorite marketed peek wallet. There is also a move heavy ACAAN (really a CAAN) effect thrown in for some unknown reason. Essays This section contains a series of un-inspiring essays. Maybe I have a bias against receiving wisdom from someone younger than my son. Bonus This section contains card effects including a couple of versions of his Open Prediction. It's obvious that Yee has some card chops. He explains that he was/is a move monkey. There is some good work here. All in all I enjoyed this book and look forward to seeing more of his work as he matures. I think it is priced too high though.

Hi, John. Thanks for your honest review
Thank you for your kind words and some criticisms(I don't know if I can call it a "criticism" because it does not sound bad at all to me lol) I do not do stagework as much but I do a descent amount of it. I am a teenager who got nothing to do, so I am frequently asked to do some short act for parties and some events in the town. I get food and drinks for exchange(just being totally honest haha). I also do gigs but not as much as you guys in Café, but what I was talking about in the book are not just pipe dreams. "Ian's Birthday" and "D&G" are two of the stage routines I do most frequently, so it is actually quite well tested. People who have seen me perform always say "That carrot thing you did was the best thing I have ever seen!" which refers to "D&G" Tobaku is an idea I have been playing around with but I did not perform it as much as I perform "Ian's Birhtday" or "D&G". But the method is reliable and it is included in a stage show I am currently working on. The last one in the "Stage" chapter is called "Pundit". It is way of using psi fxxxe. I honestly only used it a few times and stopped using it. It is so not my style but I just threw it in because I thought some people might get interested in this concept. I actually wrote a book before this one but never published it because it is a mentalism book but it takes some serious sleight of hands to perform some of simple routines which many of my friends told me that they don't think most of people can do. Therefore, I just deleted most of materials in that book and the revised version of that book is this book, "Greetings" Not really relevant to the thread but I just wanted to say it for nothing PS: I will be taking "Greetings" down from the market soon. Maybe around January 10. It is not a marketing strategy. I think too many people are telling me that it is too expensive and I think I am still not good enough to handle this huge book. I might comeback with a smaller and less expensive version of "greetings" Not sure when, but I will Zee |
