As far as I know, there's a fundamental difference: unless my understanding of the knock-out game is lacking in an essential detail, the perpetrators don't generally eat their victims afterward.

To be fair; "killer whales" aren't actually whales at all. They're related to dolphins and yes, dolphins can be jerks.
