Anyone have any pros and cons on The Paper Engine? I'm a card magician who's somewhat advanced. Appreciate it!

If you are advanced leveled into card magic, the Paper Engine is definately for you. Not a book for the beginner.

Try a search. This has been discussed at length. I personally thought the book was a disappointment. There was no material in it that I would ever include in my performing repertoire. It has a nice cover. On a positive note I would recommend Vol I and II of Card Conspiracy. Great card magic for all levels of skill and experience.

I agree with Larry. In truth, its not bad its just blah. The gravity Half Pass is worth learning, but Im not such a card fanatic that I would do anything in there.
the tone was forced intellectualism and it was boring, but again I agree with Larry, Nice cover!

Pros : Very high production value, nice binding, great imaging, great paper, well written, etc.
Cons : It's purple! Sleight heavy material, sledge hammer construction, focus on the method rather than the effect, very slim for the price (about $65 dollars in the UK), little crediting, quite a lot of padding. There's already a tonne of reviews on this, actually there was about six threads going on at the same time a while ago though about 5 of them were deleted. It does have a number of really good items in it. I say buy it and come to your own conclusions. Euan |
