So my son wants me to make a Hot Wheels car drive on its own. Can anyone suggest a prop that exists or a method for doing it on my own. I've been messing around with and ITR but the reel isn't really strong enough to pull the car. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Neo magnets: one in the car and one under your table. Not sure how practical it would be for an effect, but it's fun to play with.

It would be helpful to know the intended effect you're trying to achieve, and the performing conditions. For example, I'd be concerned that a spectator might simply think you're using one of those miniature R/C cars, which wouldn't be all that mysterious, unless your performance conditions (e.g. close up, examinable, etc.) dispel that.

A few years ago I animated a miniature toy mouse similar to what you are talking about....

Yeah, what affect are you going for? Just a small car moving on it's own is hardly magic these days.
