I give up. I'll stick with Comic-con. I can take both of my boys with me to RI Comic-con and not spend what I would for just myself to most of these conventions.
I'm sorry, I really wanted to go to a magic convention, but I don't see it happening in my lifetime!

Ed Rhodes, there is another convention on Cape Cod now (it is NOT affiliated with Hank Lee's Conclave, btw!), the Oceanside Magic International (formerly "Oceanside Magic Invitational").
My husband Markus and I founded it in 2014; and April 14-17, 2016 will be the "3rd annual". OMI has featured some of the "greats"--Shawn Farquhar, Ice McDonald, Jay Scott Berry, Losander, Kozmo, Kevin & Robin Heller, Oscar Munoz, David Oliver, Jay Sankey, Ali Shelley, Mickey Silver, Becky Blaney, Ariann Black...and more... Stars this year include Harry Lorayne, Chipper Lowell, FISM winner Joe Givan and his wife Carol Massie, IBM Prez Joe M. Turner, Stuart MacDonald, and a bunch more. It's a very small convention, and the registration rate is nowhere near the large national conventions As you are in RI, it's pretty close to you--South Yarmouth, MA on the south coast of Cape Cod. www.OceansideMagic.com has the info in case you're still hoping to make it to a magic convention. (Actually found this thread by searching for the Conclave! Hope I'm not intruding!) --Angelique Steelgrave

Not at all, that was very helpful. I think I've got other plans now, but we'll see. I'll keep this in mind.
[Some time later] Guess what? No trains or busses go to South Yarmouth! I considered a transfer from Boston, but it looks like you have to take three different busses. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Boston,+......7779!3e3 Oh well, thanks for trying.
